DSSSB TGT Syllabus 2026: Section A and Subject-Wise Topics
The DSSSB TGT syllabus has two parts. Section A is a general section common to all teaching posts, and Section B tests the subject you are applying for, along with teaching methodology. The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) uses this one-tier structure for TGT posts under both Advertisement 06/2025 and Advertisement 03/2026.
DSSSB publishes an indicative syllabus for Section A and uploads Section B syllabi post-wise on its website. Indicative means the lists show the scope of the paper, not a promise that every question will come from a named topic. The topic lists below combine the official scope with what candidates have seen in recent DSSSB papers. Use them as a working checklist, and match them against the official PDF for your post code.

Total | 200 | 200 |
The exam lasts 2 hours, and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. Key Points Before You Start
The subject section is graduation-level: Section B goes beyond school textbooks. Expect questions at the level of a bachelor's degree in your subject, with some school-level and teaching-focused questions mixed in.
Each post has its own Section B: TGT Mathematics, TGT Natural Science and TGT Computer Science candidates write the same Section A but a different Section B. Download the syllabus for your exact post code.
Male and female post codes share a syllabus: TGT English (Male) and TGT English (Female) follow the same syllabus, though their exams may be held on different dates.
Language papers are not bilingual: Most questions appear in Hindi and English, but the Hindi and English language sections, and subject papers such as Sanskrit, Urdu and Punjabi, are usually set in that language.
Older pages can mislead: Some websites still show post codes from earlier cycles or label old syllabi as the current year. Follow the PDF linked to your advertisement.
Section A Syllabus: General Section
Section A carries 100 marks and is identical for every TGT post. DSSSB lists its scope in the Section A indicative syllabus for one-tier technical and teaching exams.
Section | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
General Awareness | Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity and Constitution, economy, everyday science, sports, art and culture, books and authors, national and international organisations, Delhi-related facts | Polity and the last six months of current affairs |
General Intelligence and Reasoning | Analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, ranking, syllogism, statement and conclusion, mirror and water images, paper folding, figure counting, Venn diagrams | Series, analogy and coding-decoding |
Arithmetical and Numerical Ability | Number system, simplification, LCM and HCF, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time and distance, mensuration, data interpretation | Percentage, ratio and average |
Hindi Language | Sandhi, samas, upsarg and pratyay, paryayvachi and vilom shabd, ling and vachan, muhavare and lokoktiyan, alankar, vakya shuddhi, comprehension | Sandhi, samas and muhavare |
English Language | Tenses, articles, prepositions, voice, narration, subject-verb agreement, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, error spotting, sentence improvement, cloze test, comprehension | Error spotting and vocabulary |
Arithmetic and reasoning reward daily practice more than long study sessions. In Hindi and English, grammar rules repeat across papers, so a short revision list of rules and common errors pays off quickly. For General Awareness, Delhi-specific questions on administration, landmarks and government schemes appear alongside national topics.

CTET Paper II and DSSSB TGT Overlap
Since CTET Paper II is a qualification for TGT posts, most candidates have already studied part of this syllabus. Use that overlap to save time.
Area | CTET Paper II | DSSSB TGT | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
Child development and pedagogy | Full section | Part of Section B | Revise CTET notes, then practise DSSSB-style questions |
Subject content | School level (Classes 6 to 8) | Graduation level | Treat this as new study; CTET depth is not enough |
Hindi and English | Language pedagogy and comprehension | Grammar and comprehension | Add grammar rules and vocabulary practice |
GA, reasoning and arithmetic | Not tested | 60 marks in Section A | Build from scratch with daily practice |
Which Topics to Prioritise
Every question carries 1 mark, so a Section B question on group theory is worth exactly as much as a Section A question on percentages. That changes how you plan.
Section B first: With 100 questions, your subject is where the gap between candidates is widest. Give it about 60% of your study time.
Quick wins in Section A: Hindi and English grammar, basic arithmetic and series questions can be solved fast and accurately with practice.
Do not chase every niche topic: In General Awareness, a steady current affairs habit and core static GK give better returns than memorising rare facts.
Watch your accuracy: With 0.25 negative marking, one confident wrong guess undoes a quarter of a correct answer. Strong topics deserve more attempts, weak ones fewer.
How to Cover the DSSSB TGT Syllabus
A four-phase plan over about four months works for most candidates who already hold a B.Ed. and CTET. Adjust the length to the time left before your exam date.
Weeks 1 to 6, subject foundation: Cover Section B unit by unit from graduation-level textbooks. Spend 30 minutes a day on arithmetic and reasoning, and start a short daily current affairs routine.
Weeks 7 to 10, topic tests: Take topic-wise tests in your subject and in each Section A area. Revise pedagogy alongside your CTET notes and add Hindi and English grammar practice.
Weeks 11 to 13, sectional tests: Attempt timed sectional tests to build speed. Start an error log that lists every wrong or slow question with the reason.
Final weeks, full-length mocks: Take two to three full mocks a week, analyse each one the same day and revise from your error log instead of new material.
