Mock Tests
View allThe EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA) exam is a direct-recruitment test conducted for the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, the body that manages provident fund accounts for employees across India. SSA is an entry-level post in EPFO offices, and the exam is a common target for graduates preparing for central government jobs.
This EPFO SSA overview explains how the last recruitment cycle worked, what is known about the next one, and how to prepare. As of 20 October 2026 the official EPFO recruitment page lists no SSA notification, so every figure below comes from the last cycle (2023) and is labelled that way. Treat it as a planning guide, not as the rules for the next notification.

Notification status
The EPFO recruitment page, last updated on 15 October 2026 at the time of checking, shows no open recruitment and no SSA notice. Pages that quote a 2026 SSA date or vacancy count are usually expectations, not announcements.
Do not confuse SSA with the Enforcement Officer, Accounts Officer and Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner posts. Those are filled through the Union Public Service Commission and follow a different exam, syllabus and schedule. Track the official EPFO recruitments page for any SSA notice.

Eligibility summary
Qualification
In the 2023 cycle, candidates needed a bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institution. A typing standard applied at the skill test stage.
Age limit and other conditions
The age range was 18 to 27 years, with relaxation for reserved categories, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen as per Government of India rules. Nationality, medical and other conditions are listed in each notification. The detailed rules are on the EPFO SSA eligibility page.
Selection process and exam pattern
The 2023 process had two stages. Phase I was an online objective test of 150 questions for 600 marks. Phase II was a computer data-entry (typing) test, which was qualifying in nature. Final merit was reported to depend on Phase I marks.
Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
General Aptitude | 30 | 120 |
General Knowledge and Awareness | 30 | 120 |
Quantitative Ability | 30 | 120 |
General English with Comprehension | 50 | 200 |
Computer Literacy | 10 | 40 |
Total | 150 | 600 |
Each question carried 4 marks, and one mark was deducted for each wrong answer. English alone carried one third of the paper, so it deserves a fixed slot in your daily plan. Older pages may still show the earlier prelims, mains and descriptive format, so follow the official notification. The full breakdown is on the EPFO SSA exam pattern page.
Syllabus summary
EPFO names the tests in its notification but, in the material we could verify, does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The topics below are a working checklist built from the section names and the usual scope of such tests, not an official list.
Section | Topics to cover |
|---|---|
General Aptitude | Reasoning puzzles, series, coding-decoding, syllogism, seating arrangement |
General Knowledge and Awareness | Current affairs, static GK, economy and finance basics, EPFO and social security schemes |
Quantitative Ability | Arithmetic, percentages, ratio, time and work, data interpretation |
General English | Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, error spotting |
Computer Literacy | Computer basics, MS Office, internet and security basics |
See the EPFO SSA syllabus page for the section-wise checklist.
Salary and career
The 2023 notification placed SSA at Pay Level 5 of the pay matrix, reported as Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300. This is the basic pay scale, not the in-hand amount. Allowances depend on the city of posting, and any in-hand estimate you see online is not an official figure. Check the pay and allowances section of the notification before you decide.
How to prepare
Because English carries so many marks and wrong answers cost a mark, the plan should build accuracy first and speed second.
Weeks 1 to 6: Build concepts in quantitative ability, reasoning and English grammar. Read a newspaper daily and keep short current affairs notes.
Weeks 7 to 10: Move to topic-wise and sectional tests. Add computer literacy and economy basics.
Final phase: Take full-length timed mocks, analyse each one the same day, and revise from an error log. Practise typing on a computer for a few minutes daily.
EPFO and the conducting agency publish cut-offs with the result, and they differ by category. We do not quote past figures here because the ones circulating online are not tied to an official notice we could verify. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so treat last year's figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them. See the EPFO SSA cut-off page for how to set a target.
