EPFO SSA Cut Off: Previous Trends and Target Scores

The EPFO SSA cut-off is the minimum score needed to move ahead in the selection, and it is released only after the result. This page explains how the cut-off works, what affects it, and how to set a target score that keeps you safe.

We do not list past cut-off numbers here. The figures circulating online come from private websites, mix different exam formats and are not tied to an official notice we could verify. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

How the EPFO SSA cut-off works

  • Category-wise: Separate cut-offs are normally set for unreserved, EWS, OBC, SC, ST and disability categories.

  • Region-wise: Some earlier EPFO cycles filled posts region by region, so cut-offs can differ by region. Check the notification for the current approach.

  • Overall and sectional: A cut-off can apply to the total score, and the notification may also set minimum marks for sections.

  • Typing test: In the 2023 cycle the typing test was qualifying, so it adds no marks but you must clear it.

What affects the cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers the cut-off, and an easier one raises it.

  • Vacancies: More posts in a category usually mean a lower cut-off for it.

  • Applicants: A larger pool of strong candidates pushes the cut-off up.

  • Normalisation: When a test is held in several sessions, scores may be adjusted across sessions.

How to set your target

With 600 marks and one mark lost per wrong answer, accuracy matters as much as attempts. A practical way to set a target:

  1. Find the most recent official cut-off for your category once it is available.

  2. Add a safety margin, since the next paper may be easier.

  3. Split the target by section, giving English the largest share because it carries 200 marks.

  4. Track your mock scores. Aim to score at or above your target in several full-length mocks in a row, not once.
