EPFO SSA Syllabus 2026: Section-wise Topics Guide

The EPFO SSA syllabus covers five areas: general aptitude, general knowledge and awareness, quantitative ability, English with comprehension, and computer literacy. This guide turns those section names into a topic checklist you can tick off, with a suggestion on where to start.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation names the tests in its notification but, in the material we could verify, does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The topic lists below are built from the section names in the 2023 notification and from the usual scope of such tests. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list, and compare them with the next notification when it is released.

Key changes to know

  • Single objective test: The 2023 cycle used one computer-based test followed by a typing test. Older pages may still show a prelims, mains and descriptive format, so follow the official notification.

  • Computer literacy is a section: It is small in marks but easy to score, so do not skip it.

  • English is the heaviest section: It carries 200 of 600 marks, so its topics need the most hours.

General English with Comprehension

  • Reading comprehension: Passages with inference, vocabulary-in-context and main-idea questions. Read one passage daily.

  • Grammar: Error spotting, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, tenses, prepositions, subject-verb agreement.

  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution.

  • Sentence arrangement: Para jumbles and cloze tests.

Computer Literacy

Computer basics and hardware, operating system functions, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint basics, keyboard shortcuts, internet and email, and basic cyber security. Ten questions rarely need more than a week of focused revision.

Typing skill test

The second stage is a computer typing (data-entry) test and has no written syllabus. In the 2023 cycle the standard was reported as 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi. This is not an official figure for the next cycle, so verify it in the notification, and practise typing a little every day.

How to cover the syllabus

  1. Weeks 1 to 4: Cover arithmetic, grammar rules and reasoning basics. Start a daily reading habit.

  2. Weeks 5 to 8: Add current affairs, economy basics and computer literacy. Begin topic-wise tests.

  3. Weeks 9 to 12: Take sectional tests under time limits and revise your weak topics.

  4. Final weeks: Take full-length mocks, review each one the same day, and revise from your error log.
