Pharmacy Entrance

GUJCET Eligibility 2027: Groups, Subjects and ACPC Admission Rules

GUJCET eligibility has two layers that students often mix up. The first is who can sit the Gujarat Common Entrance Test, conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB). The second is who can get a seat through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), Gujarat, which uses GUJCET for degree engineering, B.Pharm and D.Pharm admission. You need to clear both.

This page explains the Class 12 Science groups and subjects that decide your papers, the separate eligibility rules for pharmacy and engineering seats, the seat types that depend on where you studied, and common reasons students lose a seat. It is based on the GUJCET 2026 cycle and the ACPC notices for 2026-27 admission. GUJCET 2027 has not been notified yet, so recheck every rule when the new information booklet is released.

Who Can Appear in GUJCET

GUJCET is a test for students of Class 12 Science. GSEB's notices describe it as mandatory for science-stream students seeking admission to degree engineering and to degree and diploma pharmacy courses in Gujarat.

Educational qualification

  • Appearing students: You can apply while you are in Class 12. Most candidates take GUJCET a few weeks after their board theory exams.

  • Passed students: Students who have already passed Class 12 Science and want to apply for admission in the coming session should check the information booklet for the rules that apply to them.

  • Stream: Only the Science stream. Commerce and Arts students are not covered by GUJCET.

Board

Students of the Gujarat board form the bulk of GUJCET candidates, and students of other recognised boards studying at schools in Gujarat also take the test, because ACPC requires a GUJCET score for the main share of seats. If you study under a board other than GSEB, check the information booklet for any extra details you must provide, such as your school index number or equivalent.

Medium

The question papers are available in Gujarati, English and Hindi. Your choice of medium is made in the application form and does not change your eligibility.

Class 12 Groups and the Courses They Open

Your Class 12 group decides which GUJCET papers you write. Those papers, in turn, decide which ACPC admission routes you can use.

Group

Class 12 subjects

GUJCET papers

Courses you can apply for

Group A

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics

Physics and Chemistry; Mathematics

Degree engineering; B.Pharm and D.Pharm

Group B

Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Physics and Chemistry; Biology

B.Pharm and D.Pharm

Group AB

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology

Physics and Chemistry; Mathematics; Biology

Degree engineering; B.Pharm and D.Pharm

In GUJCET 2026, GSEB's result highlights show 77,182 registrations in Group B, 58,507 in Group A and 382 in Group AB. The Biology group is the largest, which reflects how many students use GUJCET for pharmacy.

A Group B student without Mathematics is not eligible for degree engineering through ACPC, because engineering admission needs Mathematics in Class 12. A Group A student, on the other hand, can apply for both engineering and pharmacy.

Eligibility for Pharmacy Admission (B.Pharm and D.Pharm)

ACPC runs a separate online admission programme for degree and diploma pharmacy courses after Class 12 Science. Its 2026-27 notice sets out the following eligibility and merit rules.

Subject requirement

  • Stream and group: Passed HSC Science in Group A or Group B.

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, and English, as notified by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

  • Entrance test: Appeared in GUJCET for the main seat share, or NEET or JEE (Main) for the all-India 5% share.

The notice refers candidates to the ACPC website for detailed eligibility, including any minimum marks. This page does not state a minimum percentage for pharmacy because it was not given in the notice we reviewed. Check the ACPC brochure for your year before you apply.

How pharmacy merit is prepared

Seat share

Basis of merit (2026-27)

95% of government and grant-in-aid seats, 50% of unaided seats

50% board theory percentile in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, plus 50% GUJCET percentile in the corresponding subjects

5% of government and grant-in-aid seats

NEET or JEE (Main) All India Rank

The board theory percentile, as the name suggests, is based on your theory marks in the relevant subjects rather than your overall Class 12 percentage. ACPC explains the exact calculation in its brochure.

ACPC pharmacy registration in 2026

Event

Date or detail

Online registration opened

6 April 2026, 2 PM

Last date for registration and fee

15 June 2026, before 5 PM

Registration fee

Rs. 350, non-refundable, online only

ACPC registration is separate from GUJCET registration, and you can register before your board and GUJCET results are out. Missing the ACPC window is one of the most common reasons eligible students lose a pharmacy seat.

Eligibility for Degree Engineering Admission

For degree engineering (BE/B.Tech), ACPC runs its own admission programme. Reports of the 2026-27 ACPC engineering notice give these conditions:

  • Subjects: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

  • Minimum marks: 45% for general candidates and 40% for reserved categories in the relevant subjects, as prescribed by AICTE norms.

  • Entrance test: GUJCET for the main seat share; JEE (Main) for the all-India 5% share of government and grant-in-aid seats.

  • Merit: Equal weight to the Class 12 theory percentile and the GUJCET percentile for the main seat share.

  • Registration (2026): Reported as 31 March to 31 May 2026, with a fee of Rs. 350.

These engineering details come from news reports of the ACPC notice rather than the notice itself, so treat them as indicative and confirm them in the ACPC brochure for your year.

Seat Types and Where You Studied

ACPC links seat eligibility to where you completed your qualifying school education and which entrance test you took. The pharmacy notice for 2026-27 describes it this way:

Seat type

Where you studied

Entrance test

95% of government and grant-in-aid seats; 50% of unaided seats

School in Gujarat, affiliated to a valid board

GUJCET

5% of government and grant-in-aid seats

School anywhere in India, including Gujarat

NEET or JEE (Main) for pharmacy; JEE (Main) for engineering

Many websites describe the main share as a "Gujarat domicile" rule. The ACPC pharmacy notices we reviewed frame it around a board school located in Gujarat and GUJCET appearance. The detailed definitions, exceptions and certificates needed are in the ACPC brochure, so read that section closely if you studied partly outside Gujarat.

Category-wise reservation and the certificates needed to claim it are also listed in the ACPC brochure. Keep your category, income or non-creamy-layer certificates valid for the admission year.

Age Limit, Attempts and Other Conditions

Age limit

The GUJCET notices reviewed for this page do not prescribe an upper age limit, and there is no age relaxation table because no age limit is set. If the 2027 information booklet introduces any age condition, follow it.

Number of attempts

GUJCET is held once a year. The notices reviewed do not set a limit on the number of attempts, but a GUJCET score is used for admission in the session it was conducted for, so plan to take it in the year you seek admission.

Candidates with disabilities

GSEB has issued a circular on concessions and relaxations for candidates with disabilities in the GUJCET examination, under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. It is available in English and Gujarati on the GUJCET portal. If you need a scribe, extra time or another concession, read the circular early and keep the required certificate ready.

Name and details

Enter your name exactly as it appears on your HSC exam application. Mismatches between GUJCET, board and ACPC records can cause trouble at document verification.

Who Is Not Eligible

These are the most common situations in which a student cannot use GUJCET for admission:

  • Not in Science stream: Commerce or Arts students cannot take GUJCET for these courses.

  • Wrong group for the course: A Group B student without Mathematics cannot apply for degree engineering.

  • Missing subject: For pharmacy, the PCI subject list includes English along with Physics and Chemistry; check that your Class 12 subjects match.

  • Below minimum marks: For engineering, falling below the AICTE-based minimum in the relevant subjects makes you ineligible regardless of your GUJCET percentile.

  • Did not appear in GUJCET: For the main seat share, a GUJCET score is required. Without it, you can only compete for the all-India 5% share through JEE (Main) or NEET.

  • Missed ACPC registration: Passing GUJCET does not register you for admission. You must complete ACPC registration and fee payment within its window.

Eligibility Checklist Before You Apply

  1. Confirm your group: Check that your Class 12 subjects match the course you want, using the group table above.

  2. Check the subject rule: Pharmacy needs Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, and English; engineering needs Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

  3. Track your board marks: Your board theory percentile carries half of the merit for most ACPC seats, and engineering has minimum-mark rules.

  4. Register for GUJCET on time: In 2026, registration opened on 16 December 2025, with a late-fee window afterwards. Watch the portal from November.

  5. Register with ACPC separately: Note the ACPC windows for pharmacy and engineering, which open around the GUJCET exam and close by mid-year.

Once your eligibility is clear, read the GUJCET exam pattern and the chapter-wise GUJCET syllabus. For practice in the real format, you can take GUJCET online tests on Testkart and use the analysis to plan revision for both your board exam and GUJCET. The GUJCET exam overview brings dates, pattern and merit rules together in one place.
