HCL eligibility for freshers depends on the programme you apply to. For AMP for Freshers, HCLTech asks for an engineering degree in any branch and 70% or above throughout academics, with a lower bar of 65% for four locations. Other programmes are matched to your degree, and TechBee is open to Class XII pass-outs with board-wise minimum marks.

Eligibility for AMP for Freshers

AMP is the programme with the clearest published rules. You need an engineering degree in any branch, so it is not limited to computer science or IT. HCLTech states the minimum as follows:

  • 70% or above throughout academics, meaning Class 10, Class 12 and graduation, for all locations except those below.

  • 65% or above throughout academics for Lucknow, Nagpur, Vijayawada and Madurai, which the page calls New Vistas locations.

The page also says off-campus candidates are eligible. Since the percentage applies to each stage of academics, a lower Class 10 score can rule you out even if your graduation score is high.

Academic percentage rules

HCLTech does not publish how it treats CGPA conversion, rounding or aggregate calculation. If your university reports a CGPA, keep your official conversion formula or certificate ready. Candidates commonly report that a 60% to 6.0 CGPA style rule applies in some drives, but this is unofficial and differs from the AMP rule above, so rely on your drive notice.

Points HCLTech does not state

  • Graduation year: The page does not specify eligible batches. Drive notices usually name them.

  • Age limit: No age limit is stated.

  • Backlogs: Some third-party sites report that active backlogs are not allowed at the interview stage. HCLTech does not state this on the official page, so confirm with your placement cell.

  • Gap years and re-application: Not stated. Some sites report a six-month waiting period after rejection, which is unconfirmed.

TechBee eligibility

TechBee is a separate early career programme for Class XII pass-outs. The TechBee FAQ we checked described candidates who are residents of India and passed Class XII in 2025 or 2026, so check the live page for the current batch. It lists board-wise minimum Class XII marks.
