IBPS RRB PO Cut Off: State-wise Trends and Target Score Guide
The IBPS RRB PO cut-off is not one national number. IBPS sets it separately for each state and each category, at three points: the Prelims, the Main exam and the final merit after the interview. You also need a minimum score in every test, not just a good total. For Officer Scale I under CRP RRBs XV, the 2026 cut-offs will be released only after each stage's result.
The figures below are indicative, reported values from past cycles for a few large states. They are not taken from an official IBPS list on this page, so use them as benchmarks only. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

These are normalised General category figures as reported after the results. They could not be checked against an official IBPS list, so treat them as indicative. Category-wise and final cut-offs for your state appear with your scorecard on ibps.in after each result, and that official figure is the one to trust.
How to Find the Official Cut-off
IBPS usually displays cut-offs through the result and scorecard login on ibps.in rather than as a single public table. After each result, log in with your registration details, open your scorecard and note the cut-off shown for your state and category. Save a copy, because the result link stays open only for a limited period.
Trend in Recent Cycles
In four of the six states above, the reported Prelims cut-off rose between 2024 and 2025, by about 3 to 10 marks. Karnataka moved slightly down. States in north India with Hindi as the prescribed language tend to show higher cut-offs, because large numbers of candidates compete for each post. States with a regional language requirement, such as Karnataka and Gujarat, often show lower cut-offs, partly because the language rule narrows the field.
Vacancies matter too. Gujarat has 600 indicative Scale I posts in CRP RRBs XV, the highest of any state, against 263 in the updated CRP RRBs XIV table. More posts relative to applicants usually ease the cut-off, though difficulty and applicant numbers can outweigh this.
What Affects the RRB PO Cut-off
Paper difficulty: A harder puzzle or DI section can pull the cut-off down by several marks across all states.
Vacancies in your state: Up to three times the declared vacancies in each state and category are called for interview, so a state with few posts shortlists fewer candidates.
Number of applicants: Hindi-belt states usually draw more candidates per post.
Normalisation: Scores from different shifts are equated by the equi-percentile method, so the published cut-off is a normalised score.
Sectional minimums: Even above the total cut-off, a low score in one test removes you.
How to Set Your Target Score
Pick your state's benchmark: Take the latest reported General cut-off for your state and add a margin of 5 to 8 marks in Prelims.
Hold every section: Aim for at least half the marks in each Prelims section, so a tough Reasoning set does not sink you.
Plan Mains above the line: Since the Mains carries 80 per cent of final merit, every mark above the shortlist line improves your rank, not just your chance of an interview.
Measure with mocks: Compare your mock scores with these benchmarks every week, and track the gap as a number rather than a feeling.
