IDBI Assistant Manager Eligibility 2026: Age, Education and Experience

Many candidates clear the IDBI Assistant Manager exam and are then rejected at document verification. The reason is usually an eligibility detail they misread: an outsourced job counted as bank experience, a four-month stint, or the wrong certificate format

What Does Not Count

  • Contractual work: Candidates with experience as contractual employees are not eligible.

  • Short stints: Experience of less than 6 months in any organisation is not counted.

  • Outsourced roles: Experience through an outsourcing vendor, service provider, KPO/BPO, IT support provider, third-party payroll or any contract arrangement is not considered.

  • Pre-graduation work: Only experience after you acquire your degree counts.

  • Non-bank employers: The rule names only scheduled public and private sector banks, cooperative banks and RRBs. Experience at an NBFC or a non-banking company does not match this requirement.

Preferred Experience

Quick Eligibility Self-Check

Before applying, answer these questions:

  1. Was I a graduate by the cut-off date?

  2. Is my age within the limit, including any relaxation I can claim?

  3. Do I have at least 2 years of permanent, full-time bank experience after graduation?

  4. Is every stint I am counting at least 6 months long and on the bank's own rolls?

  5. Can I get an HR-signed experience certificate in the prescribed format?

  6. Are my credit history and category certificates in order?

If any answer is "no", resolve it before paying the fee, because application fees are not refunded.

For Students: How to Become Eligible

Graduate from a recognised university, then target a permanent bank job through exams such as IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, SBI PO, SBI Clerk or IBPS RRB. Avoid agency or contract roles if this post is your goal, because they will not count however long you work. Complete two years of service before the age limit and keep your credit record clean.

The syllabus for those first bank exams overlaps heavily with the IDBI Assistant Manager syllabus, so your preparation carries forward.

Eligibility gets you into the exam. Preparation gets you selected. Understand the IDBI Assistant Manager exam pattern.
