IDBI Junior Assistant Manager
IDBI Junior Assistant Manager is a recruitment exam for managerial-cadre recruitment, relevant to candidates preparing for public and private sector banking careers.
IDBI Junior Assistant Manager recruitment is a route into Grade O bank service. This guide covers the regional 2026–27 recruitment under Advertisement 7/2025-26, rather than combining it with older JAM through PGDBF admission notices. Candidates should identify the route before comparing eligibility, training, salary or selection rules. A shared job title does not make the notices interchangeable.
The application period in this notice was 8 to 19 March 2026 and has passed. Use the official careers page for recruitment-stage updates and a new notice for any future cycle. The sections below explain the verified recruitment framework, the preparation it requires and the documents that deserve attention before an interview. They do not promise selection or announce fresh vacancies.

Notification and important dates
Event | Date in original notice |
|---|---|
Eligibility reference date | 1 March 2026 |
Advertisement date | 6 March 2026 |
Application and fee window | 8 to 19 March 2026 |
Originally tentative online-test date | 12 April 2026, morning session |
These dates belong to the identified recruitment, not a future application calendar. The test date was tentative in the original advertisement and subject to bank updates. Follow the relevant official notice and candidate call letter for your stage. A search page that still says “apply now” after the window has closed can mislead you.
Vacancies and regional choice
The notice lists 1,100 provisional vacancies across 16 zones. Delhi and Mumbai each have 130, Bengaluru has 75, and Guwahati has 35; the complete reservation matrix is in the advertisement. These are advertised positions, not a live count of unfilled jobs. The bank may modify them, and offers may be issued in phases.
Choose a zone by its language and document conditions as well as location. The notice restricts an applicant to one zone and does not permit a later change. Posting and retention within a preferred zone remain subject to bank requirements. A zone preference should therefore not be read as an unconditional promise of a particular branch or city.
Eligibility: qualification, age and language
A recognised bachelor’s degree is required. General, EWS and OBC candidates need at least 60%; SC, ST and PwBD candidates need at least 55%. Diploma-only qualifications do not meet the degree condition. The basic age band is 20 to 25 on 1 March 2026, with relaxations under the advertisement.
Check the date of passing and your aggregate calculation before applying. A later postgraduate result does not replace the graduation condition. Candidates using grade points should obtain the university conversion rule. Local-language proficiency and supporting records are important for regional recruitment; the later document-verification instructions must also be read before attending the interview.
Category | Upper-age relaxation in notice |
|---|---|
SC/ST | 5 years |
OBC non-creamy layer | 3 years |
PwBD | 10 years |
Eligible ex-servicemen/commissioned officers | 5 years, subject to notified service conditions |
Persons affected by 1984 riots | 5 years |
Relaxations require valid evidence and must follow the combination rules in the notice. EWS status alone is not listed as an age relaxation. Read the detailed eligibility guide before assuming a concession applies to your circumstances.
Application and document checks
For this recruitment, applications were online through the link provided on the official careers page. For any future notice, first confirm that the window is open, read the fee schedule and use that notice’s application link. This page does not reproduce an unverified fee or an outdated upload-size table.
Identity: Match spelling, date of birth and category with the documents you will produce. Resolve discrepancies before submission rather than assuming the interview team can correct them.
Education: Keep all semester or year marksheets, the degree or provisional certificate and any grade-conversion certificate together. Record the declared result date.
Region: Check the selected zone’s language and the current DV instructions. A preference entered online does not replace required documentary evidence.
Submission record: Save the final application and fee receipt. Preview the full form before completion; the notice restricts changes after submission.
IDBI JAM exam pattern
Test | Questions | Marks | Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|
Logical Reasoning, Data Analysis & Interpretation | 60 | 60 | 40 |
English Language | 40 | 40 | 20 |
Quantitative Aptitude | 40 | 40 | 35 |
General/Economy/Banking Awareness/Computer/IT | 60 | 60 | 25 |
Total | 200 | 200 | 120 |
The test has separate section timers, sectional and aggregate qualifying requirements, and a one-fourth penalty for wrong answers. Blanks carry no penalty. Most test areas are bilingual in English and Hindi, while the English test is in English. A strong total cannot compensate for failure to meet a required sectional threshold.
Syllabus and what to study
IDBI specifies the test names and provides an examination handout; the detailed topic checklist below is editorial preparation guidance, not a separately notified, exhaustive topic-wise syllabus. Topic inclusion does not guarantee a question or a fixed chapter weightage.
Area | Preparation focus |
|---|---|
Reasoning and DI | Logical representation, puzzles and interpretation of numerical data |
English | Comprehension, grammar and meaning in context |
Quantitative aptitude | Arithmetic fluency and problem solving |
Awareness and IT | Banking/economy concepts, current developments and computer knowledge |
Build a checklist from these areas, then use the examination handout to understand question presentation. Separate official test headings from coaching lists of likely topics. No chapter-level question count should be treated as guaranteed unless the bank has explicitly specified it.
Selection, salary and career conditions
The selection process includes the online test, document verification, personal interview and pre-recruitment medical test. Passing one stage does not settle eligibility for the next. Interview preparation should therefore run alongside document organisation: a good answer cannot replace a missing mandatory qualification or language record.
The notice quotes joining CTC of Rs. 6.14 lakh to Rs. 6.50 lakh in a Class A city. This is an annual cost-to-company range, not a monthly in-hand figure. Initial appointment is on one-year probation, with confirmation governed by bank policy. Promotion and posting depend on conditions in the notice and applicable bank rules; they should not be presented as automatic entitlements.
A practical preparation sequence
Begin with a diagnostic that includes every test area. Its purpose is to locate missing concepts and timing problems, rather than to predict selection. An excellent English score should not hide a weak awareness section. Keep the first results so that later progress can be compared with the same starting point.
Foundation phase: Work through arithmetic, basic reasoning and English error patterns. Read a small amount of banking material daily and explain it aloud. Learn one method fully before adding a faster alternative.
Application phase: Move from single questions to mixed sets. Put a time limit on an arrangement or data set, then review why you chose it. Add brief computer and financial-awareness recall sessions rather than postponing them.
Simulation phase: Use the four separate timers in the notified pattern. Follow each simulation with a review of wrong, skipped and slow correct answers. Schedule the next study session from that review.
Revision phase: Retest errors without looking at solutions. Reduce the size of notes to items that still need attention. Keep interview documents organised while maintaining written-test practice.
The phase lengths depend on your diagnostic and available hours. A working candidate can use shorter daily sessions and one longer review block. A student with more time should increase deliberate practice and revision, rather than taking several unanalysed mocks in succession.
Cut-off and resource planning
The bank determines shortlisting thresholds for the applicable zone and category. This guide does not invent a numeric expected cut-off. Keep preparation targets separate from official qualifying requirements and do not compare a practice score directly with an interview-inclusive final score.
When suitable resources are listed, use Testkart to compare the stated test pattern, solution quality and validity of access. Choose a Testkart resource only after checking its actual product details; this guide does not claim that an exam-specific product is currently available.
Official sources and cycle check
This guide uses Advertisement 7/2025-26 for regional JAM Grade O recruitment 2026–27. Read the official IDBI JAM advertisement and check the IDBI careers page for later notices. The March application window is historical; this guide does not announce a fresh application window or predict a 2027 examination.
