Indian Army Agniveer Syllabus 2026-27: Post-Wise Topic List

The Indian Army Agniveer syllabus depends on the post you apply for. General Duty, Technical, Clerk/Store Keeper Technical (SKT) and Tradesman candidates all take an online Common Entrance Exam (CEE), but the subjects and the level of questions are not the same for each.

The Army names the test type in its notification but does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The topic lists below are built from the subjects reported for each post and from the level of the qualifying class. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list. This page covers the latest notified cycle, recruiting year 2027.

Key points to know first

  • No official topic list: the notification does not itemise topics, so websites that show a precise "official syllabus" are interpreting, not quoting.

  • Difficulty follows the qualifying class: published reports describe the test as set at about the level of the class you passed, so Technical is likely to be harder than General Duty.

  • Subjects vary by post: the Tradesman subject list is indicative. Confirm it in your own ARO's notice and on your admit card.

  • Language of the paper: the CEE is offered in 13 languages, so you can attempt it in the language you are strongest in.

General Duty syllabus

General Duty is the broadest intake, and the paper tests basics across four areas.

Mathematics

  • Number system and arithmetic: HCF and LCM, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest.

  • Time-based problems: time and work, time, speed and distance.

  • Algebra and geometry basics: simple equations, identities, lines, angles, triangles, circles.

  • Mensuration and data: area and volume of common shapes, simple charts and tables.

General Science

  • Physics: motion, force, work and energy, light, sound, electricity, magnetism.

  • Chemistry: matter, atoms and molecules, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, everyday chemistry.

  • Biology: cells, human body systems, nutrition, diseases, plants and environment.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

  • Static GK: Indian history, geography, polity, important days, awards, books.

  • Defence and sports: Armed Forces, ranks, equipment, major exercises, national and international sports events.

  • Current affairs: national and international news of roughly the last six to twelve months.

Logical Reasoning

  • Series and analogies: number, letter and figure series, odd one out.

  • Reasoning basics: coding-decoding, direction sense, blood relations, ranking and simple Venn diagrams.

Technical syllabus

The Technical paper moves from general topics to subject depth, so Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Maths carry the most weight.

Algebra and trigonometry

Physics

Units, motion, laws of motion, work and energy, gravitation, heat, waves, current electricity, magnetism, optics

Last six months of news

Candidates who qualify through ITI or diploma routes still face the same CEE, so build Class 11 and 12 fundamentals first.

Clerk/Store Keeper Technical syllabus

English carries the most space in published pattern reports for this post, so do not treat it as a side subject.

General English

  • Grammar: tenses, articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, error spotting, sentence correction.

  • Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, idioms and phrases.

  • Reading: comprehension passages and sentence rearrangement.

Other subjects

  • Mathematics: arithmetic topics as in General Duty, with some algebra.

  • Computer Science: computer basics, MS Office, internet, hardware and software terms, keyboard shortcuts.

  • General Science and General Knowledge: Class 8 to 10 science and current affairs.

  • Typing: English typing practice, aiming for 30 words per minute or more.

Tradesman syllabus

Tradesman candidates face basic-level papers. For Class 10 pass and Class 8 pass categories, expect General Knowledge, General Science and Mathematics at the level of those classes. The split of marks and the exact subjects can differ, so treat this as indicative and check your admit card.

  • Mathematics: arithmetic, percentages, average, ratio, simple geometry and mensuration.

  • General Science: everyday science, human body, basic physics and chemistry.

  • General Knowledge: current affairs, India and its states, important days, sports and defence basics.

Trade choices are made during application. The notification we checked allows up to nine trade options for Tradesman (10th pass) and up to two for Tradesman (8th pass), and trades you do not enter may not be considered.

Common topics across posts

You can study these once and use them in more than one post, which helps if you apply for two categories.

Rally stage: is there a syllabus?

There is no written syllabus for the rally, but there are standards to meet. The Physical Fitness Test has the 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a 9 ft ditch and zig-zag balance. The Physical Measurement Test checks height, weight and chest against the standards for your region and post. The notification also lists a medical examination by an Army medical team.

For the run, the notification awards marks by time band: up to 5 minutes 30 seconds earns the highest run marks, followed by bands to 5 minutes 45 seconds, 6 minutes and 6 minutes 15 seconds. Timings can change before the rally, so confirm them in your admit card.

How to cover the syllabus

  1. Weeks 1 to 4: complete arithmetic and class-level science. Technical candidates start Physics and Maths fundamentals.

  2. Weeks 3 to 6: add current affairs for 30 minutes a day and write short monthly notes.

  3. Weeks 5 to 8: add logical reasoning (General Duty) or English and computer basics (Clerk/SKT).

  4. Weeks 7 to 10: start topic-wise practice tests and note every error in a log.

  5. Final phase: take full-length timed tests, review the same day, and revise the error log.
