Indian Navy Agniveer Eligibility 2026: Age, Education and Physical Standards
Indian Navy Agniveer eligibility depends on three things: your date of birth, your educational qualification and your entry, which is SSR, MR or SSR (Medical Assistant). Candidates must also be unmarried Indian citizens who meet the height and medical standards. This page covers the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches.
The rules below follow the Navy's SSR and MR notifications of 10 March 2026. The SSR (Medical Assistant) details come from reports on the same cycle and are marked for verification. Before you rely on any rule, confirm it on the official Join Indian Navy portal.

Educational qualification
SSR
Class 12: Passed with Mathematics and Physics from a recognised board, with at least 50% aggregate.
Diploma route: A three-year engineering diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation or Information Technology from a recognised polytechnic, with 50%.
Vocational route: A two-year vocational course with Physics and Mathematics as non-vocational subjects, with 50%.
MR
Candidates need a Class 10 pass with at least 50% aggregate from a board recognised by the Ministry of Education.
SSR (Medical Assistant)
Reports on this cycle describe Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with 50% aggregate and 40% in each subject, and a male-only entry. Treat this as unverified until you read its notification on the portal.
Appearing candidates
Students who appeared for Class 10 or Class 12 in 2025-26 could apply. They must produce original marksheets later and meet the minimum aggregate and subject-wise marks. The notification does not give a percentage-to-CGPA conversion rule in the copy we reviewed, so check your board's formula.
Age limit
Age is fixed by date of birth, and both end dates are inclusive. Everyone who applied for INET 2026 had to be born between 1 December 2004 and 31 October 2009.
Batch | Date of birth window |
|---|---|
Agniveer 01/2027 | 1 December 2004 to 31 May 2009 |
Agniveer 02/2027 | 1 May 2005 to 31 October 2009 |
The notification does not list any category-wise age relaxation. Each batch has its own Stage II, so being unselected in one batch does not carry you into the other.
Nationality, marital status and other conditions
Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply.
Marital status: Only unmarried men and women are eligible, and an unmarried certificate is needed at enrolment. Marriage during the four-year tenure leads to dismissal.
Domicile: There is no separate domicile eligibility rule, but shortlisting is state-wise and you must upload and carry an original domicile certificate. Wrong domicile details lead to cancellation at any stage, even after training.
Police verification: It must come from your domicile or residence jurisdiction, and adverse reports lead to ineligibility.
Attempts: The notification does not state an attempt limit. Each batch is a fresh application.
Physical and medical standards
Height: A minimum of 157 cm is stated for both men and women. Relaxation rules are on the portal, and some websites quote a different figure for women, so follow the notification.
Vision: Uncorrected 6/12 in each eye, corrected to 6/6 in each eye, with normal colour perception.
Tattoos: Allowed only on the inner forearm and the back of the hand. Other tattoos bar recruitment.
Medical rules: Pregnancy and certain gender-related conditions listed in the notification are grounds for rejection.
Fitness: The PFT is mandatory and qualifying. See the Indian Navy Agniveer exam pattern for the standards.
Who is not eligible
Married candidates: Including anyone who marries during service.
Outside the age or education rules: Candidates born outside the batch window or below the minimum marks.
Multiple applications: Duplicate registrations are rejected and the fee is not refunded.
Wrong or counterfeit details: Incorrect domicile, gender or documents lead to cancellation.
Late arrival: Reporting more than 30 minutes after the INET reporting time means no entry to the exam.
Fee and documents
The fee was Rs. 550 plus 18% GST, charged at Stage I only. Keep original certificates, marksheets, the domicile certificate and the NCC certificate, if any, ready for every stage. Sponsored candidates and NCC 'C' certificate holders who are verified go straight to Stage II.
