Infosys Syllabus 2026: Topics for SE, SP and DSE Tests
The Infosys syllabus for freshers depends on the role you are aiming for. Systems Engineer (SE) candidates are commonly tested on aptitude, reasoning, verbal ability and pseudocode, while Specialist Programmer (SP) and Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) candidates face coding-based tests. This page gives a topic checklist for each, so you know what to study first.
Infosys names its test sections in its published guidelines but does not release a topic-wise syllabus for its general fresher assessment. The topic lists below are built from the official section names and from what candidates report. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list, and confirm the current format in your invitation email.
Table of Contents
Syllabus at a Glance
Test | Sections | Source level |
|---|---|---|
SE online assessment | Quantitative ability, logical reasoning, verbal ability, pseudocode | Candidate reports |
Certification Round | Java or Python hands-on coding, programming MCQs, DBMS | Official guidelines |
Advantage Round | Three programming questions of differing difficulty | Official guidelines |
Section timings and marks are on the Infosys exam pattern page.
Key Changes to Know
Format varies by drive: Some drives add puzzle, grammar or essay sections to the SE test, while others do not. Your invitation email is the final word.
Older pages mislead: Many prep sites still describe tests from earlier years. Follow the official Infosys Certification examination guidelines for the certification route.
Coding language choice: The certification rounds ask you to pick Java or Python when booking the slot, and the Advantage Round allows another language chosen on test day.
Systems Engineer Test Syllabus
Section | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Quantitative ability | Number system, percentages, profit and loss, ratio, time and work, time-speed-distance, averages, permutation and combination, probability | Percentages and ratio, because they feed most other topics |
Logical reasoning | Number and letter series, coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, syllogisms, seating arrangements, data interpretation | Series and arrangements, which are quick to improve with practice |
Verbal ability | Reading comprehension, sentence correction, fill in the blanks, error spotting, para jumbles | Grammar rules, then daily reading |
Pseudocode | Variables, loops, conditions, functions, arrays, output tracing | Dry-running small loops on paper |
Candidates also report puzzle, grammar and essay sections in some drives. If your drive includes them, add a few puzzle sets and one timed essay a week.
Pseudocode carries few questions but is where many candidates lose sectional marks. Practise tracing code without running it, and learn to spot off-by-one errors and nested loop outputs. Topic-wise tests on Testkart can help you check each section as you finish it.
Coding and DBMS Syllabus for SP, DSE and Certification
Programming
Basics: Input and output handling, conditionals, loops and functions in Java or Python.
Arrays and strings: Traversal, two pointers, frequency counts, palindromes and anagrams.
Sorting and searching: Built-in sorting, binary search and simple custom comparators.
Core data structures: Stacks, queues, linked lists, hash maps, trees and basic graph traversal.
Recursion and dynamic programming: Simple recursion, memoisation and standard one-dimensional DP patterns.
Database Management Systems
The Certification Round has a DBMS section. Cover SQL queries with joins, grouping and subqueries, keys, normalisation, transactions and indexing at a conceptual level.
Programming Multiple-Choice Questions
Expect questions on language features, object-oriented concepts, exception handling, collections and output prediction in your chosen language.
Overlap Between Tests
Area | SE test | SP, DSE and Certification | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
Pseudocode and tracing | Yes | Helps with programming MCQs | Study once, apply to both |
Aptitude | Core | Not reported as a main section | Keep it light if you target SP |
Data structures and coding | Not tested directly | Core | Needed for SP and DSE; useful for technical interviews in every track |
DBMS | Interview topic | Certification section | Learn SQL early |
Is There an Interview Syllabus?
No official one exists. Candidates commonly report questions on projects, one programming language, OOP, DBMS and data structures in the technical round, and relocation and communication in the HR round. Prepare your final-year project in depth, since interviewers often start there.
How to Cover the Syllabus
Weeks 1 to 3: Revise percentages, ratio, time and work, and basic grammar. Start pseudocode tracing daily.
Weeks 4 to 6: Add reasoning sets and, if you target SP or DSE, arrays, strings and SQL.
Weeks 7 to 9: Move to sectional tests, data structures and recursion. Write down every wrong answer in an error log.
Final phase: Take full-length timed tests, review them the same day and revise the error log.
