Nursing & Paramedical Recruitment

Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Grade A Nurse

JSSC Grade A Nurse is a recruitment exam conducted by Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission for the recruitment of Staff Nurses, relevant to candidates preparing for nursing and paramedical government recruitment.

The JSSC Grade A Nurse exam is a state-level nursing recruitment test conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) for Grade A Nurse posts in Jharkhand government health institutions. It is a single computer-based written test followed by document verification, so the whole selection rests on one paper.

This page brings the essentials together: who can apply, how the paper is built, what to study, how selection works and how to prepare. Details come from the 2022 cycle, the most recent full Grade A Nurse cycle we could confirm through published reports. We could not confirm a newer full notification at the time of writing, so treat every figure as a reference and check the JSSC website before you act.

Selection process

  1. Computer-based test: candidates are ranked on marks scored in the single paper, subject to the category-wise minimum qualifying percentage.

  2. Document verification: shortlisted candidates present qualification, registration, experience, age and category documents in original.

  3. Final merit list: candidates who clear verification are considered against the vacancies in each category.

There is no interview in the process reported for 2022, which means every mark in the written test counts.

Salary

Reports for the 2022 cycle place the post at pay level 7 with a pay band of Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400. This is the pay-matrix range, not the monthly in-hand amount, which depends on allowances, deductions and posting. Confirm the current pay level in the notification.

How to prepare

With one paper and no sectional split, the winning approach is steady, wide coverage of all six nursing areas followed by timed practice.

  • Start with Midwifery and Community Health Nursing: these two areas have the longest topic lists and give the most room for questions.

  • Revise your nursing textbooks selectively: use them for concepts, then switch to question practice quickly.

  • Solve previous questions: they show how factual or application-based the questions are.

  • Practise the full 120-question paper in 120 minutes: one minute a question is tight when each wrong answer costs a mark.

When you are ready for timed practice, you can attempt JSSC Grade A Nurse online mock tests on Testkart and use the analysis to find weak areas. Our study notes guide shows how to keep short revision notes alongside.

Cut-off reference

JSSC reports minimum qualifying percentages by category rather than a single cut-off score. Reported figures for 2022 were 40% for unreserved and EWS candidates, with lower minimums for reserved categories. Final selection depends on merit among qualified candidates and the number of vacancies. See the cut-off page for the full table and how to set a target.
