KVS Librarian Cut Off: Tier 1 and Tier 2 Marks Explained

The KVS Librarian cut off is the minimum score needed to move to the next stage of the CBSE-run KVS and NVS recruitment under Notification 01/2025. As of 23 October 2026, we could not find a Librarian-specific cut-off table on an official page, so this page explains what is published, how shortlisting works and how to set a safe target.

Final cut-off and merit list

Not announced at the time of writing

Any category-wise Librarian figure you see on a website that does not point to a CBSE or KVS document should be treated as an estimate. Official notices are on https://www.cbse.gov.in/cbsenew/recruitment.html

How shortlisting works

  • Tier 1 to Tier 2: Candidates are shortlisted at a ratio of 1:10 against the number of vacancies, category-wise as per reservation rules. So the Tier-1 cut-off depends on how many people score above a line, not on a fixed pass mark.

  • Tier 2 to interview: Shortlisting is at 1:3.

  • Final merit: 85 percent Tier 2 and 15 percent interview.

With 166 Librarian vacancies, the 1:10 ratio implies a Tier-2 pool of roughly 1,660 candidates across categories. This is arithmetic from the notification, not an official figure.

What affects the cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: Tougher papers lower the shortlisting line.

  • Number of applicants: More applicants for the same posts raise the competition.

  • Vacancies and categories: The cut-off is different for UR, EWS, OBC (NCL), SC and ST because vacancies differ.

  • Negative marking: A wrong answer costs 1 mark in Tier 1, so careless guessing lowers scores.

How to set your target

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat any earlier figure as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above it rather than a bare pass.

  1. Tier 1: Aim for steady accuracy in every part, and track a score you can repeat in three full tests in a row.

  2. Tier 2: Set separate targets for the objective part (out of 60) and the descriptive part (out of 40).

  3. Use mocks: Compare your percentile and rank in each mock with the group, not just the raw score.
