Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Senior Secretariat Assistant

KVS Senior Secretariat Assistant is a recruitment exam conducted by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for assistant-cadre recruitment, relevant to candidates preparing for recruitment at public sector undertakings and central institutions.

The KVS Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) is an administrative post in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan at Level 4 of the pay matrix. It is filled by direct recruitment, but it is open only to graduates who already have three years of regular service as a Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), LDC or equivalent in the Central Government. For the 2025 cycle, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) ran the exam on behalf of KVS and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) under Recruitment Notification 01/2025.

As of October 2026, the 2025 cycle is the latest official one. CBSE declared the SSA Tier 2 result on 1 September 2026, and no new SSA notification has been released since. This page covers the verified facts of that cycle: vacancies, eligibility, the two-tier exam pattern, the official syllabus, fees, salary and how to prepare.

KVS SSA Notification 2025

CBSE published the detailed notification for teaching and non-teaching posts in KVS and NVS on 13 November 2025. The SSA post was notified with 280 vacancies. Corrigendum-3, dated 10 December 2025, revised the figure to 288. Corrigendum-1 and Corrigendum-2 changed other posts but did not alter the SSA entry.

Two changes matter if you have read about earlier SSA recruitment. The 2022-23 cycle (Advertisement 15/2022, 322 vacancies) used a single computer-based test conducted by KVS. The 2025 cycle moved to a common two-tier exam run by CBSE, with an OMR-based Tier 1 and a pen-paper plus OMR Tier 2. Older pages may still show the single-test pattern, so follow the 2025 notification.

Objective questions in Tier 2 carry 1 mark each, with 0.25 deducted for a wrong answer. The paper is bilingual (Hindi and English).

What this means for you:

  • Tier 1 is a filter: It decides only whether you reach Tier 2. Its marks do not count in the final merit.

  • Tier 2 decides selection: 40 of its 100 marks are descriptive, so writing practice on rules and procedures is as important as objective revision.

  • Guessing costs more in Tier 1: A wrong answer there wipes out a third of a correct one.

How to Prepare for KVS SSA

Because only Tier 2 counts for merit, plan your preparation around the rules paper and treat Tier 1 as a gate you must clear comfortably.

  • Start Tier 2 early: Read the primary rule books and government orders for each unit, not just summaries. Your own office work in the JSA or LDC role is a useful base.

  • Keep Tier 1 warm: Spend 45 to 60 minutes a day on reasoning, numeric ability and GK, so you are not starting from zero after the notification.

  • Write answers: Practise short answers on topics such as leave entitlement, pay fixation and bank reconciliation, since descriptive questions carry 40 marks.

  • Test regularly: Use timed papers in the current pattern to fix your attempt strategy.

KVS SSA Cut Off

CBSE shows each candidate's Tier 1 score and Tier 2 marks in the candidate login. It has not published a separate category-wise cut-off notice for SSA in the 2025 cycle. Cut-offs change with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat any figure you see as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above it. The KVS SSA cut off page explains how to set a target score.
