LIC ADO Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Experience
LIC ADO eligibility depends on three things: your degree, your age on the date set in the notice, and the route you apply through, which can be open market, LIC agent or LIC employee. Getting these right before you apply matters, because an application that does not meet the conditions can be rejected at any stage. This page explains LIC ADO eligibility for the 2026 cycle in plain terms.
As of 21 October 2026, LIC has not released the 2026 notification that Testkart could find, so the rules below follow the 2023 cycle as reported by secondary sources. The age reference date, result deadline, and experience conditions can change in the new notice. Treat every figure here as indicative until you have checked the official notification for your zone.

Qualification | Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university |
Age | 21 to 30 years on the date given in the notice |
Routes | Open market, LIC agents, LIC employees |

Educational Qualification
In the 2023 cycle, a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university was the basic requirement. This means graduates in arts, science, commerce, engineering and other streams were all reported to be eligible. Candidates holding the Fellowship of the Insurance Institute of India were also reported as eligible.
Three points need checking in the new notice:
Result deadline: you usually need to have passed the final examination, with the result in hand, on or before a stated date. Final-year students waiting for results are normally not eligible.
Recognised body: the degree must come from a university or institution recognised by the relevant authority. Check this if your degree is from a private, deemed or open university.
Marks: no minimum percentage was reported for the open-market route in 2023, but confirm this in the new notice.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The age range reported for 2023 was 21 to 30 years on the cut-off date in the notice, which was 1 January 2023. For 2026, the cut-off date has not been announced, so do not count your age from any date other than the one in the official notice.
Category | Upper age limit (2023, reported) |
|---|---|
General | 30 years |
OBC | 33 years (3 years relaxation) |
SC and ST | 35 years (5 years relaxation) |
LIC employees | About 42 to 47 years depending on category and service |
LIC agents, development staff and field staff | About 40 to 45 years depending on category |
Ex-servicemen | Based on years of service, as per the notice |
Persons with benchmark disabilities | As per the notice and government rules |
The upper limits for LIC employees and agents were reported with some differences between sources, so the notice is the only safe reference. The lower limit of 21 years applies to every route, so you must not be under 21 on the reference date.
Experience Conditions by Route
Open market
No work experience is required. In 2023, candidates with at least two years of life insurance industry experience were reported to get preference. This is a preference and not a condition, but read the exact wording in the notice.
LIC employees
Employees were reported to need about three years of service after confirmation in a Class III post. Check which posts count and whether the service is counted up to the notice date or the application date.
LIC agents
Agents, including development staff and field staff, had separate conditions for urban and rural areas. Sources reported a minimum agency period of about five years in urban areas and four years in rural areas, along with minimum premium or business conditions. These figures are tentative. Read the exact years and premium thresholds in the notice, because they decide whether you can apply under this route at all.
Nationality and Other Conditions
Nationality: an Indian citizen. The notice may list other categories of nationals who can apply under the rules of the Government of India.
Zone choice: LIC publishes a notice for each zonal office, so you apply for a specific zone. Read the zone conditions in that notice, and check whether applying to more than one zone is allowed.
Category proof: if you claim age relaxation or a reserved vacancy, you need a valid certificate in the format given in the notice.
Medical fitness: selected candidates must meet the medical standards before joining.
Who May Not Be Eligible
Under 21 or over the upper limit: even by a few days on the reference date.
No degree result by the deadline: a pending result usually does not qualify.
Agent or employee route without the required service: if the years or business conditions are not met, apply through the open market if you otherwise qualify.
Incorrect or missing certificates: a category certificate in the wrong format can lead to rejection at verification.
Verification of documents is usually done after the written tests, so a candidate who clears the exam can still be rejected if eligibility is not met on the cut-off date.
Fee and Documents
The fee for 2023 was reported as Rs. 750 for General, OBC and EWS candidates and Rs. 50 for SC and ST candidates, although sources differ. Keep a scanned photograph, signature, degree certificate and category certificate ready. The file sizes and formats are given in the notice.
