Management Entrance

Maharashtra MBA Common Entrance Test

MAH MBA CET (Maharashtra MBA Common Entrance Test) is an examination taken by students preparing for MBA and management admissions.

MAH MBA CET, officially the MAH-MBA/MMS CET, is the state-level entrance test for admission to MBA and MMS programmes in Maharashtra. It is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, and its percentile is used in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for management institutes across the state, from government and university departments to private unaided colleges.

This guide covers what you need before you start preparing for the 2027 cycle: where the official schedule stands, the two-attempt system introduced in 2026, eligibility, fees, exam pattern, syllabus, results and how CAP admission works. Facts from the 2026 cycle are labelled as such, because the CET Cell has not yet released the 2027 information brochure. Use them as a reliable guide to the format, and confirm every date on the official website once the new notification is out.

Latest Update: MBA CET 2027 Status

As of 30 October 2026, the State CET Cell has not published the MAH-MBA/MMS CET 2027 notification, information brochure or exam schedule. The 2026 cycle is complete: both attempts were held, results were declared, and CAP admissions for A.Y. 2026-27 have run their course.

During 2026, CET Cell officials publicly discussed holding the first attempt of some 2027 entrance tests earlier, around December 2026 to January 2027. Later reports indicate that the December plan has been dropped and that the first attempt will follow the Class 12 board exams. None of this has been confirmed for MBA CET through an official notice, so treat every 2027 date you see online as expected, not final.

  • What is likely to stay the same: The 200-question, 150-minute format and the two-attempt system have been in place for the 2026 cycle, and nothing official suggests a change.

  • What to watch: The registration notice, the number of attempts, the fee table and the exam dates. These are announced through notices on the official website.

How the Two-Attempt System Works

From the 2026 cycle, the CET Cell allowed candidates to take MBA CET twice in the same admission year. You choose at registration whether you want one attempt or both, and the fee depends on that choice.

  • Separate percentiles: Each attempt produces its own percentile, calculated from raw marks after normalisation across shifts.

  • Better score counts: If you appear in both attempts, the better of the two percentiles is used for admission.

  • Same pattern: Both attempts follow the same format, so preparation does not change between them.

For most students, two attempts lower the pressure of a single bad day. A sensible plan is to treat the first attempt as a full-strength effort, then use the gap before the second attempt to fix the weakest section shown in your scorecard.

Eligibility Criteria in Brief

The eligibility rules are simple compared with many national MBA tests. The detailed rules, including percentage calculation and candidate types, are covered on the MAH MBA CET eligibility criteria page.

Educational Qualification

You need a bachelor's degree of at least three years' duration in any discipline from a recognised university, with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent. For backward class categories, EWS and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra, the minimum is 45%. Candidates who have appeared for the final year of their degree can also apply.

Age Limit

The 2026 information brochure does not prescribe an age limit. Working professionals and candidates who graduated years ago can apply as long as they meet the qualification rules.

Other Conditions

  • Identity records: Aadhaar and APAAR ID details are verified through DigiLocker, so make sure both are correct before registering.

  • Category documents: Reserved category candidates need valid caste, non-creamy layer, EWS or disability certificates at the CAP stage.

Application Fee and How to Apply

The fee is paid online only and is non-refundable. The 2026 fee structure is shown below; payment gateway charges are extra.

Steps to Apply

  1. Visit the official CET Cell website and open the registration link for MAH-MBA/MMS CET.

  2. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number, then log in with the credentials you receive.

  3. Fill in personal, category and academic details, and enter Aadhaar and APAAR ID details.

  4. Choose one or both attempts and select your preferred exam centres.

  5. Upload your photograph and signature in the prescribed format.

  6. Pay the fee online, confirm the form and save a copy for your records.

Common Reasons for Trouble

  • Mismatched names: The name on your photo ID must match the hall ticket; a mismatch can stop you from entering the exam hall.

  • Poor photographs: The 2026 brochure asked for a recent colour photograph with a plain light background and full face visible.

  • Unconfirmed forms: A form is complete only after payment and confirmation, so check the status in your login.

MAH MBA CET Exam Pattern

The test is a single paper of 200 objective questions with five options each. Every question carries one mark and there is no negative marking.

What This Means for You

  • Speed decides the score: You get an average of 45 seconds per question, which is tight for arrangement puzzles and data sets.

  • Reasoning is half the paper: Logical and Abstract Reasoning together carry 100 of the 200 marks.

  • Never leave a blank: With no negative marking, an educated guess can only help you.

Section-wise strategy and timing advice are on the MAH MBA CET exam pattern page.

Syllabus Summary

The official brochure describes each section in a few lines rather than listing topics. The topics below are drawn from the brochure and from questions asked in previous papers, so use them as a working checklist.

Section

Important topics

Logical Reasoning

Arrangements and puzzles, syllogisms, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, input-output, critical reasoning

Abstract Reasoning

Figure series, odd figure out, analogies, mirror and water images, paper folding, pattern completion

Quantitative Aptitude

Percentages, ratio, averages, profit and loss, interest, time and work, speed and distance, data interpretation

Verbal Ability and RC

Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, para jumbles, error spotting

For a complete topic list with a suggested study order, see the MAH MBA CET syllabus.

Result, Percentile and Normalisation

MBA CET is held over several shifts, so raw marks are not compared directly. The CET Cell equates scores across sessions to adjust for differences in difficulty and declares a percentile for each candidate. A percentile shows the share of candidates who scored at or below you, not the percentage of marks you scored.

  • Where to check: The scorecard is available in the candidate login on the official portal.

  • What it shows: Your percentile and personal details. With two attempts, each attempt has its own scorecard.

  • Fair-play checks: The brochure states that responses may be analysed for similarity patterns, and scores found to be non-genuine can be cancelled.

Admission Through CAP

The percentile alone does not give you a seat. Admission happens through the Centralised Admission Process run by the State CET Cell.

  1. CAP registration: Register on the CAP portal after the results, upload documents and complete verification.

  2. Merit list: A provisional and then a final merit list is prepared on the basis of the CET percentile.

  3. Option form: Fill your preferred institutes and programmes in order of preference.

  4. Allotment rounds: Seats are allotted over multiple rounds based on merit, category, seat type and your preferences.

  5. Reporting: Accept the allotted seat, pay the fee and report to the institute within the deadline.

Candidates from outside Maharashtra compete for All India seats. Under the 2026 CAP rules, as reported, these seats also accepted scores from other national management tests such as CAT and CMAT, so check the current CAP brochure if you hold one of those scores.

Cut-off Reference

There is no fixed pass mark for MBA CET. What matters is the closing percentile of each institute in each CAP round, which varies by category, seat type and gender. Top Mumbai and Pune institutes have historically closed very close to the 100th percentile in the open category, while many other established colleges close at lower percentiles.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, seats and the number of applicants. Treat previous figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them. Previous-year closing percentiles are compiled on the MAH MBA CET cut-off page.

How to Prepare for MAH MBA CET

MBA CET rewards speed and accuracy on moderate-level questions more than deep concepts. A focused plan of four to six months works well for most graduates.

Section-wise Approach

  • Logical Reasoning: Practise arrangements and puzzles daily, because they are lengthy and appear in sets. Learn to spot sets you should skip and return to.

  • Abstract Reasoning: Build a list of common figure rules such as rotation, addition and deletion of elements. Regular practice makes this the quickest section to score in.

  • Quantitative Aptitude: Strengthen arithmetic and calculation speed first, then data interpretation. Most questions test speed rather than advanced maths.

  • Verbal Ability: Read daily and practise short passages under time limits. Grammar and vocabulary questions are quick marks if your basics are sound.

Phased Plan

  1. Months 1 and 2: Build concepts in arithmetic, reasoning basics and grammar, with daily reading.

  2. Month 3: Move to topic-wise tests and timed sectional practice.

  3. Months 4 onward: Take full-length mocks in the 200-question format, analyse each one the same day and revise from an error log.

Practise in the Real Format

Because the paper is long and fast, full-length practice matters more for MBA CET than for most entrance tests. You can take MAH MBA CET online tests on Testkart to practise 200 questions in 150 minutes and use the section-wise analysis to see where your time goes.

If you prefer guided preparation, Testkart also lists courses, study notes and bundles from educators, so you can combine concept learning with timed practice in one place. Keep checking the official website for the 2027 notification so your plan lines up with the real exam dates.
