MAH MBA CET Eligibility 2027: Degree, Marks, Age
The MAH MBA CET eligibility criteria decide whether you can sit the exam and, later, whether you can take part in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for MBA and MMS seats in Maharashtra. The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, sets these rules in its information brochure and in the CAP rules for each admission year.
The core requirement is simple: a bachelor's degree of at least three years with a minimum aggregate percentage, and final-year students can apply. This page explains the qualification rules, how your percentage is calculated, the age position, candidate types, documents and the most common reasons candidates run into trouble. The rules described here are from the 2026 cycle; the 2027 brochure has not been released yet, so confirm every point once it is published.
MAH MBA CET Eligibility

Final-year students | Eligible to apply |
Age limit | None prescribed in the 2026 brochure |
Number of attempts | Up to two attempts in one admission cycle (from 2026) |
Mandatory IDs | Aadhaar and APAAR ID, verified through DigiLocker |
Educational Qualification
To be eligible, you must have passed a bachelor's degree of at least three years' duration from a recognised university, with at least 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. The degree can be in any discipline.
Which Degrees Qualify
Three-year degrees: Arts, commerce, science, management and other three-year programmes qualify if they meet the percentage rule.
Four-year and longer degrees: Engineering, pharmacy, agriculture and similar degrees qualify, since the rule sets a minimum of three years, not a maximum.
Any stream: There is no requirement to have studied commerce or mathematics at graduation. Students from every background take this exam.
Relaxation in Minimum Marks
The minimum aggregate is 45% for candidates of backward class categories, EWS and persons with disability who belong to Maharashtra. The relaxation applies only to Maharashtra candidates with valid category documents. Candidates from other states apply under the general 50% rule even if they belong to a reserved category in their home state.
Candidate group | Minimum aggregate |
|---|---|
Open category, Outside Maharashtra State, J&K Migrant | 50% |
Backward class categories of Maharashtra (such as SC, ST, VJ/DT, NT, OBC, SBC, SEBC) | 45% |
EWS of Maharashtra | 45% |
Persons with disability of Maharashtra | 45% |
How Your Percentage Is Calculated
The brochure defines aggregate marks as the grand total of marks obtained in the subjects on which your degree class is awarded. This detail matters because some universities print several totals on the mark sheet.
Rounding: The percentage is calculated by rounding off to two places after the decimal. A score of 49.995% would therefore round to 50.00%, while 49.994% would not.
Grades and CGPA: If your university awards grades or CGPA, the percentage is worked out using the conversion procedure certified by your university. Ask your university for its official conversion formula or a certificate stating the equivalent percentage.
Use the official total: Do not calculate your own percentage from selected semesters. Use the aggregate on which the degree is awarded.
If your percentage is close to the limit, get the conversion certificate early. Waiting until CAP verification leaves little time to fix a problem.
Final-Year Students
Candidates who have appeared for the final-year examination of a qualifying bachelor's degree can apply for MAH MBA CET. This allows students to take the exam in the same year they graduate.
Result timing: You must meet the qualification and percentage requirement by the date set in the CAP rules for that year. Check the CAP brochure for the exact deadline.
Keep proof ready: Expect any seat you accept before your final result to depend on submitting the final mark sheet with the required percentage within the deadline.
Backlogs: If you have pending subjects, your degree may not be complete in time. Clear backlogs before the CAP deadline.
Age Limit
The 2026 information brochure does not prescribe a minimum or maximum age for MAH MBA CET. In practice, the qualification rule acts as the only entry condition, because you need to have reached the final year of a three-year degree.
This makes the exam open to working professionals and candidates who graduated several years ago. If the 2027 brochure introduces an age condition, it will be stated in the eligibility section, so read it when the notification is out.
Candidate Types and Nationality
The fee table in the 2026 brochure groups candidates as Open category from Maharashtra, Outside Maharashtra State (OMS), J&K Migrant, and reserved categories of Maharashtra. Your candidate type affects the fee you pay and the seats you compete for during CAP.
Maharashtra State Candidates
Maharashtra candidates compete for Maharashtra State seats. Domicile and category rules for these seats are defined in the CAP brochure, which is published after the CET results. Reserved category candidates of Maharashtra need valid caste, caste validity, non-creamy layer, EWS or disability certificates as applicable.
Outside Maharashtra State Candidates
Candidates from other states can take MAH MBA CET and apply for All India seats through CAP. They are treated as open category for fee and eligibility purposes.
Nationality
The 2026 CAP rules, as reported, required Maharashtra State and All India candidates to be Indian citizens. Non-Indian candidates with a qualifying degree could be considered for seats under separate rules set by the competent authority. Check the CAP brochure for the current year if this applies to you.
Eligibility for CAP Admission
Passing the eligibility check for the exam does not end the process. To join a programme through CAP, you must also meet the admission rules for that year.
Valid CET score: Maharashtra State candidates need a valid score in MAH MBA CET. Under the 2026 CAP rules, as reported, a non-zero score was required.
All India seats: Under the 2026 CAP rules, as reported, All India candidates could use a non-zero score in MAH MBA CET or in other management tests such as CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, MAT or GMAT. Verify this in the current CAP brochure before relying on it.
Document verification: Your certificates are checked during CAP registration. Errors in category or percentage details can cost you a seat.
Documents You Should Keep Ready
Most eligibility problems surface at the document stage. Prepare these before registration opens.
Document | When it is needed | Note |
|---|---|---|
Aadhaar and APAAR ID | Registration | Verified through DigiLocker; generate an APAAR ID through DigiLocker if you do not have one |
Photograph and signature | Registration | Recent colour photo, plain light background, full face visible |
Photo ID | Exam day | Original, valid, with the same name as the hall ticket; ration cards and learner's licences were not accepted in 2026 |
Degree mark sheets | CAP | All years, or up to the latest available for final-year students |
CGPA conversion certificate | CAP | If your university awards grades |
Category, non-creamy layer, EWS or disability certificate | CAP | For 2026, the non-creamy layer certificate had to be valid up to 31 March 2027 |
Candidates with disabilities who need a scribe or extra time must submit the required certificates and the scribe declaration form. The 2026 brochure provided compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of the exam for eligible candidates.
Who May Face Problems
Aggregate below the limit: Candidates below 50% (or 45% where applicable) after correct rounding are not eligible.
Degree shorter than three years: Two-year degrees and diplomas do not meet the qualification rule on their own.
Unrecognised university: Degrees from bodies not recognised by UGC or AIU may be rejected during verification.
Pending result or backlogs: Final-year candidates who cannot show a completed degree by the CAP deadline may lose their admission.
Wrong category claim: Claiming a Maharashtra reserved category without valid documents can lead to the claim being rejected at verification.
Name mismatch: A difference between the name on your ID and on your hall ticket can stop you from entering the exam.
