MAH MBA CET Cut Off: Previous Year Percentiles

The MAH MBA CET cut-off is the closing percentile at which an institute fills its last seat in a category during a CAP round. There is no single pass mark for the exam. Instead, every institute has its own cut-off for each category, seat type and round, published by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, during the Centralised Admission Process.

This page shows indicative closing percentiles from the previous cycle for well-known institutes, explains what moves the cut-off, and helps you set a realistic target. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, seats and the number of applicants, so treat these figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them.

How the MBA CET Cut-off Works

  • Percentile-based: CAP uses your normalised percentile, not raw marks. With two attempts, the better percentile is used.

  • Institute and category-wise: Each institute has separate closing percentiles for categories such as general open, reserved categories, EWS and PwD, and for women where seats are reserved.

  • Seat type matters: Maharashtra State seats and All India seats have separate cut-offs. All India cut-offs at top institutes are often higher because fewer seats are available.

  • Round-wise: Cut-offs usually ease slightly in later rounds as candidates accept or give up seats, but at top institutes the movement is small.

What the Trend Shows

Across recent cycles, the most sought-after Mumbai and Pune institutes have closed very close to the 100th percentile in the open category. Below this top group, many established institutes close in the high 90s, and other colleges close at lower percentiles. The spread means a good percentile opens many options even if the top few institutes are out of reach.

What Affects the Cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: Normalisation adjusts for shift differences, but overall paper difficulty still shapes how scores spread.

  • Number of candidates: More candidates with similar preparation push top percentiles closer together.

  • Seats and reservations: The seat matrix for each institute, category and seat type sets how far down the merit list admissions go.

  • Two attempts: Since 2026, candidates can use the better of two percentiles, which may raise the scores competing for the same seats.

  • Candidate preferences: Popular institutes fill early with high scorers, while cut-offs at other institutes depend on how many candidates choose them.

How to Set Your Target Percentile

  1. Pick your target institutes: List three groups: ambitious, realistic and safe, based on the previous closing percentiles for your category and seat type.

  2. Add a margin: Aim for a percentile clearly above last year's closing figure, because a small shift in competition can move the cut-off.

  3. Convert it into marks in mocks: Track your raw score in full-length mocks, for example on Testkart, and compare it with the percentile shown in the mock analysis. Use this as a rough guide rather than an exact conversion.

  4. Use both attempts well: If your first attempt falls short, focus the gap before the second attempt on your weakest section.
