MHT CET 2027 is the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for admission to first-year engineering, technology and pharmacy degree courses in Maharashtra for the 2027-28 academic year. It is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, as a computer-based test in two groups: PCM for engineering aspirants and PCB for pharmacy and allied courses.
The exam now runs in two attempts a year, and the best percentile of the two is used for admission. For the 2027 cycle, the CET Cell has indicated that the first attempt may move to December 2026 or January 2027, months earlier than usual. This page covers what is officially known, what is still expected, and how to plan your preparation around both attempts.

Latest Updates for MHT CET 2027
Earlier first attempt likely: In May 2026, the State CET Cell Commissioner said the first attempt of MHT CET 2027 could be held between December 2026 and January 2027. The second attempt is expected around April 2027. No official schedule has been released yet.
Two-attempt system continues: MHT CET 2026 was the first cycle with two attempts (April and May 2026). Candidates could take one or both, and only the better total percentile was used for admission.
Information brochure awaited: The 2027 brochure, registration link and final dates will appear on the CET Cell website. Until then, the 2026 brochure is the most reliable guide to eligibility, fee and pattern.
If the first attempt is held in December, Class 12 students will sit for MHT CET before their board exams. That makes an early start on the full Std XII syllabus more important than in earlier years.

Courses Offered Through MHT CET
Group | Main courses |
|---|---|
PCM | B.E./B.Tech (engineering and technology), B.Pharm, Pharm.D |
PCB | B.Pharm, Pharm.D |
Students who studied all four subjects can register for both groups and keep engineering and pharmacy options open, but each group carries its own fee. Agriculture and allied degree courses also admit through an MHT CET route; for 2026 the CET Cell issued a separate brochure for them, so check the current brochure if you are interested.
MHT CET Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility to appear
Qualification: Candidates who have passed or are appearing for Class 12 (HSC) or an equivalent exam can apply. There is no minimum percentage to sit for the test.
Age limit: The 2026 brochure states there is no age limit for appearing or for admission.
Nationality: Indian nationals appear for the test. NRI, OCI, PIO and foreign national candidates are exempted from appearing and are admitted under their own rules.
Eligibility for B.E./B.Tech admission
To take an engineering seat after the test, you need Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class 12, plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or another subject listed in the brochure. You also need at least 45% marks in these three subjects taken together, or 40% for candidates of reserved categories.
Pharmacy courses follow their own subject rules, which the admission brochure for that course lists.
MHT CET Application Fee
Category | One attempt | Both attempts |
|---|---|---|
Open category, candidates from outside Maharashtra, J&K migrants | Rs. 1,300 | Rs. 2,600 |
Reserved categories of Maharashtra, PwD, orphan, transgender | Rs. 1,000 | Rs. 2,000 |
These figures are from the MHT CET 2026 brochure and apply per group. The 2027 fee will be confirmed in the new brochure.
How to Apply for MHT CET 2027
Register: Open the CET Cell portal for the current year and register with a valid mobile number and email address.
Fill the form: Enter personal, academic and category details exactly as they appear on your documents.
Choose group and attempts: Select PCM, PCB or both, and choose whether you will take one attempt or both.
Select medium and centre: Pick the question paper medium and your preferred exam cities. The medium cannot be changed later.
Upload documents: Upload your photograph and signature in the format the portal asks for.
Pay and save: Pay the fee online and download the confirmation page for your records.
Category, caste validity and non-creamy layer details entered here affect your CAP eligibility later, so check them carefully before you submit.
MHT CET Exam Pattern
Both groups have 200 marks and 180 minutes, split into two 90-minute blocks. Physics and Chemistry come first and are auto-submitted after 90 minutes. Mathematics or Biology follows in the second block.
PCM group
Subject | Questions (Std XI + XII) | Marks per question | Total marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Physics | 50 (10 + 40) | 1 | 50 | 90 minutes (shared with Chemistry) |
Chemistry | 50 (10 + 40) | 1 | 50 | Shared with Physics |
Mathematics | 50 (10 + 40) | 2 | 100 | 90 minutes |
Total | 150 | - | 200 | 180 minutes |
PCB group
Subject | Questions (Std XI + XII) | Marks per question | Total marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Physics | 50 (10 + 40) | 1 | 50 | 90 minutes (shared with Chemistry) |
Chemistry | 50 (10 + 40) | 1 | 50 | Shared with Physics |
Biology | 100 (20 + 80) | 1 | 100 | 90 minutes |
Total | 200 | - | 200 | 180 minutes |
All questions are multiple choice and there is no negative marking. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are offered in English, Marathi or Urdu; the Mathematics paper is in English only. The CET Cell describes the difficulty as close to JEE Main for PCM subjects and NEET for Biology, with mainly application-based questions.
What this means for you
Mathematics carries half the PCM score: Each Maths question is worth 2 marks, so 50 questions decide 100 marks. A weak Maths section is very hard to cover with Physics and Chemistry.
Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank answer can only cost you. Use the last few minutes of each block to mark an option for every question.
Pace the first block: You get 90 minutes for 100 Physics and Chemistry questions, under a minute each. Chemistry is usually quicker, so finishing it first can leave more time for Physics numericals.
No going back: Once the first block is submitted, you cannot return to Physics or Chemistry.
Older pages may still show Mathematics as 100 questions of 1 mark each. Follow the official brochure, which sets 50 questions of 2 marks each. For a detailed breakdown, see the MHT CET exam pattern guide.

MHT CET Result, Percentile and Normalisation
MHT CET is held in several shifts, so raw marks are converted into percentile scores to adjust for differences in paper difficulty. A percentile shows how you performed relative to others in your group; it is not the same as a percentage of marks.
Separate results: Results are declared for each attempt.
Best of two: If you take both attempts, the better total percentile is used. Subject scores from different attempts are not mixed.
One attempt is enough: Taking only one attempt does not affect your eligibility for counselling.
MHT CET Counselling (CAP)
Admission to colleges is done through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), run by the State CET Cell after results. In outline, the process works like this:
CAP registration: Register on the admission portal for your course and pay the CAP fee.
Document verification: Upload or verify documents such as mark sheets, domicile, caste and caste validity certificates.
Merit list: The provisional and final merit lists are published based on your MHT CET percentile.
Option form: Fill college and branch preferences for each CAP round.
Seat allotment and reporting: Accept the allotted seat, pay the acceptance fee and report to the institute within the deadline.
How to Prepare for MHT CET 2027
An earlier first attempt changes the plan. Treat the first attempt as a full exam, not a trial, and use the second to improve your weaker subjects.
Finish Std XII first: About 80% of questions come from Std XII. Aim to complete the core Std XII chapters by November 2026.
Revise only the listed Std XI chapters: Only selected Std XI chapters are tested. Revise those and skip the rest for CET purposes.
Use State Board textbooks: Questions follow Maharashtra board chapters and terms, so textbook exercises and examples are the base.
Build speed for the first block: Practise 100 Physics and Chemistry questions in 90 minutes until it feels routine.
Keep an error log: Note every wrong or slow question by chapter and revise from this log each week.
Mock tests and previous papers
Full-length mocks matter more in MHT CET than in many exams because the paper is about speed as much as concepts. Start with chapter tests, move to 90-minute block tests, and take one or two full mocks a week in the final six weeks.
