MHT CET Syllabus 2027: Chapter-wise PCM and PCB Guide
The MHT CET syllabus 2027 is based on the Maharashtra State Board curriculum for Class 11 and Class 12. The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, sets about 20% of questions from selected Std XI chapters and about 80% from the full Std XII syllabus, across Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
The CET Cell names the Std XI chapters it includes and states that the entire Std XII syllabus applies. The Std XII chapter names and topics below follow the current Maharashtra State Board textbooks. The 2027 syllabus has not been released yet, so this page uses the latest official list; recheck it once the 2027 information brochure is out. With the first attempt expected as early as December 2026, use this page as a working checklist to plan your coverage.
MHT CET Syllabus 2027
Subject | Group | Std XI questions | Std XII questions | Total marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Physics | PCM and PCB | 10 | 40 | 50 |
Chemistry | PCM and PCB | 10 | 40 | 50 |
Mathematics | PCM | 10 | 40 | 100 (2 marks each) |
Biology | PCB | 20 | 80 | 100 |
Key Things to Know Before You Start
Only listed Std XI chapters count: The CET Cell includes a fixed set of Std XI chapters in each subject. Chapters outside that list are not tested in MHT CET, though you still need them for school exams.
Std XII is tested in full: Every Std XII chapter is in scope, and it carries about four times the weight of Std XI.
Use the revised textbooks: Some sites still show older Maharashtra chapters such as Circular Motion, Elasticity or Communication Systems as separate Std XII units. Follow the current textbooks, where topics have been reorganised.
Difficulty is above board level: The CET Cell describes the PCM papers as close to JEE Main in difficulty and Biology as close to NEET, with mainly application-based questions.
Same Physics and Chemistry for both groups: PCM and PCB students study the same Physics and Chemistry syllabus.

Physical chemistry (Solid State to Chemical Kinetics) usually brings the most numerical questions, and these are quick marks once formulas are clear. Organic named reactions and inorganic properties are memory-based, so revise them in short, frequent sessions.
MHT CET Mathematics Syllabus

Std XII chapters
Part | Chapter | Key topics to cover |

Part I | Pair of Straight Lines | Combined equation, homogeneous equation, angle between lines |
Part I | Vectors | Section formula, scalar and vector products, scalar triple product |
Part I | Line and Plane | Equations of lines and planes, angles and distances |
Part I | Linear Programming | Formulating problems, graphical solution |

Part II | Binomial Distribution | Bernoulli trials, mean and variance |
Calculus (Part II) is the biggest scoring area in Mathematics, followed by coordinate and three-dimensional geometry. Because each question carries 2 marks, a few extra correct answers in calculus move your PCM total sharply. Mathematics questions also tend to be the most time-consuming, so practise shortcut methods.
MHT CET Biology Syllabus
Std XI chapters included
Biomolecules, Respiration and Energy Transfer, Human Nutrition, and Excretion and Osmoregulation.
Std XII chapters
Theme | Chapters |
|---|---|
Reproduction | Reproduction in Lower and Higher Plants; Reproduction in Lower and Higher Animals |
Genetics and evolution | Inheritance and Variation; Molecular Basis of Inheritance; Origin and Evolution of Life |
Plant physiology | Plant Water Relation; Plant Growth and Mineral Nutrition |
Human physiology and health | Respiration and Circulation; Control and Co-ordination; Human Health and Diseases |
Applied biology | Enhancement of Food Production; Biotechnology |
Ecology | Organisms and Populations; Ecosystems and Energy Flow; Biodiversity, Conservation and Environmental Issues |
Human physiology, together with the Std XI chapters on nutrition and excretion, forms a large share of Biology questions. Genetics is concept-heavy and often appears as application questions, so practise pedigree, cross and inheritance problems. With 100 questions in 90 minutes, reading speed matters as much as recall.
The high-weight areas mentioned in this page are based on recent question papers and are indicative only. The CET Cell does not publish chapter-wise weightage.
Where the Syllabus Overlaps
Area | What overlaps | How to plan |
|---|---|---|
PCM and PCB | Physics and Chemistry are identical for both groups | If you take both groups, prepare these once and divide the remaining time between Mathematics and Biology |
Std XI and Std XII Mathematics | Trigonometry II, Straight Line, Circle and Conic Sections lead into Trigonometric Functions and Pair of Straight Lines; Limits and Continuity lead into Differentiation; Probability leads into Probability Distributions | Revise each Std XI chapter just before its Std XII follow-up |
Std XI and Std XII Physics | Std XI Electrostatics and Semiconductors are the base for the Std XII chapters of the same name | Study them as one unit |
HSC board and MHT CET | Both use the same Std XII textbooks | Board study builds concepts; add timed MCQ practice for CET speed |
How to Cover the MHT CET Syllabus
If the first attempt is held in December 2026 or January 2027, you will have less time than students in earlier years. A three-phase plan keeps the syllabus manageable.
Phase 1, concept completion: Finish the Std XII chapters you have not studied yet, starting with high-weight areas: calculus, electricity and magnetism, physical chemistry and human physiology. Solve textbook exercises for every chapter.
Phase 2, Std XI and topic tests: Revise only the listed Std XI chapters. Take chapter-wise MCQ tests and start 90-minute block tests for Physics and Chemistry together.
Phase 3, full mocks and revision: In the final four to six weeks, take one or two full-length mocks a week. Analyse each mock the same day and revise from your error log.
Between attempts: After the first attempt, note which subject cost you the most marks and focus your second-attempt preparation there, alongside board exam revision.
