MHT CET Cut-Off 2027: Previous Year College-Wise Cut-Offs
The MHT CET cut-off is the lowest percentile at which a seat in a particular college, branch and category was allotted during the Centralised Admission Process (CAP). It is not a pass mark. The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra publishes these closing figures after every CAP round, separately for each institute, course and seat type.
This page explains how to read MHT CET cut-offs, shows the 2025 closing percentiles for leading institutes, and covers what moves the cut-off from year to year. Use it to set a realistic target percentile for MHT CET 2027, where you will have two attempts and the better percentile will count.
How the MHT CET Cut-Off Works
MHT CET has no qualifying cut-off for the test itself. Every candidate who appears gets a percentile score, and that score is used to prepare the merit list for CAP. The cut-off appears only at the admission stage, as the closing percentile of the last candidate allotted a seat in each round.
Round-wise: A new cut-off list is released after each CAP round. Popular branches usually fill early, while others close lower in later rounds as seats are reallocated.
Seat-type-wise: The same branch has different closing figures for open, reserved, ladies, EWS, TFWS and other seat types.
Quota-wise: Maharashtra state seats are filled on MHT CET percentile. All India seats in the same college are filled on JEE Main scores and have a separate cut-off list.
How to read seat type codes
Official cut-off lists use short codes for each seat type. A code such as GOPENS is built from three parts.
Part of the code | Options | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
First letter | G or L | General (open to all genders) or Ladies seat |
Middle part | OPEN, OBC, SC, ST, NT1, NT2, NT3, VJ, SEBC | Category of the seat |
Last letter | H, O or S | Home University, Other than Home University, or State Level seat |
So GOPENS is a general open seat at state level, and LOBCH is a ladies OBC seat for home-university candidates. Separate codes cover EWS, TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme), defence and PwD seats. Always compare your score with the code that matches your own category and university region.
MHT CET Cut-Off 2025 for Top Engineering Colleges
The table below shows the final closing percentiles for general open state-level (GOPENS) seats in the 2025-26 CAP, as reported from the State CET Cell's round-wise lists. Check the official lists for your category before relying on any figure.
Institute | Branch | Closing percentile (GOPENS, 2025) |
|---|---|---|
VJTI, Mumbai | Computer Engineering | 99.95 |
VJTI, Mumbai | Information Technology | 99.76 |
VJTI, Mumbai | Electronics and Telecommunication | 99.59 |
VJTI, Mumbai | Mechanical Engineering | 99.26 |
VJTI, Mumbai | Civil Engineering | 98.55 |
COEP Technological University, Pune | Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning | 99.77 |
COEP Technological University, Pune | Computer Science and Engineering | 99.67 |
COEP Technological University, Pune | Electronics and Telecommunication | 99.55 |
COEP Technological University, Pune | Mechanical Engineering | 99.29 |
COEP Technological University, Pune | Civil Engineering | 98.78 |
ICT, Mumbai | Chemical Engineering | 99.39 |
These figures are the last-round closing percentiles for open state-level seats. Reserved, ladies and home-university seats closed at different points, often lower. The 2026-27 CAP lists are published round-wise on the CET Cell's engineering admission portal, which you can reach from the State CET Cell website.
Maharashtra and All India lists are not comparable
A common mistake is to compare an MHT CET percentile with an All India cut-off. In the 2025 CAP Round 1, Computer Science at COEP closed at about 99.45 on the All India list, which is a JEE Main percentile. The state-level open seat for the same branch closed at 99.67 MHT CET percentile in the final round. Use only the Maharashtra state list if you are admitted on your MHT CET score.
MHT CET Cut-Off Trends
Across recent cycles, a few patterns have held steady:
Computer branches lead: Computer Engineering, IT and AI-related branches at top government and autonomous institutes close highest, usually above the 99.5 percentile for open seats.
Core branches are closer to 98 to 99.5: At the same institutes, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil close lower, which gives a wider entry point if you are flexible about the branch.
Later rounds move slightly: Closing figures usually dip a little across rounds as candidates withdraw or upgrade, but for the most popular branches the change is small.
What Affects the MHT CET Cut-Off
Number of candidates: More applicants in the PCM group push the competition up for the same number of seats.
Seat intake: New branches, added seats or closed divisions change how far down the merit list a course fills.
Paper difficulty and normalisation: MHT CET runs in many shifts, so raw marks are converted into percentiles. Your percentile, not your raw score, decides your merit position.
Two attempts: Since the 2026 cycle, candidates can take two attempts and keep the better percentile. Many students improve in the second attempt, which can tighten the top of the merit list.
Category and university region: Each seat type is filled from its own pool, so closing figures differ widely between codes.
Branch demand: Student preferences shift over time, and branches in high demand fill faster.
How to Set Your Target Percentile for MHT CET 2027
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, seats and the number of applicants. Treat the 2025 figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare match.
Shortlist colleges and branches: Pick 10 to 15 options across a range of closing percentiles, including a few safer choices.
Use the right list: Note the closing figure for your own seat type code, not just GOPENS.
Set a target above the benchmark: For top computer branches, a target close to the 99.9 percentile is realistic. For core branches at leading institutes, the 99 percentile region gives you more options.
Plan both attempts: Treat the first attempt as a real exam, then use the second to lift your weakest subject. Only the better total percentile counts.
