Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Pharmacy
MHT CET Pharmacy is the route into B.Pharm and Pharm.D programmes at most pharmacy colleges in Maharashtra. It is not a separate exam: candidates take the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET), conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, and use their score in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for pharmacy. Most aspirants write the PCB group (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), although students from the PCM group are also eligible for B.Pharm.
This guide covers the MHT CET Pharmacy 2027 cycle: the latest update on the two attempts, important dates, eligibility for B.Pharm and Pharm.D, the exam pattern, a syllabus summary, results, CAP admission and a practical preparation plan. Dates for 2027 are still tentative, so every year-specific figure below is labelled with its cycle and its status.

Latest Update: Two Attempts in the 2027 Cycle
The CET Cell introduced a two-attempt system for MHT CET from the 2026 cycle. In 2026, the PCB group sat its first attempt in April and its second attempt in May, and admissions used the better of the two scores. The second attempt is optional, so a candidate who is satisfied with the first score does not have to appear again.
For the 2027 cycle, the first attempt was initially planned for December 2026. Reports in October 2026 say that plan has been replaced, and that both attempts will now be held after the Class 12 board exams, with the first attempt around March 2027 and the second around May 2027. At the time of writing, the official schedule has not been published on the CET Cell website.
Older pages may still show a December 2026 exam, so follow the official notification once it is released. Treat the 2027 months above as tentative until then.

Eligibility for B.Pharm and Pharm.D Through MHT CET
Eligibility covers both the conditions for writing MHT CET and those for B.Pharm or Pharm.D admission through CAP.
Educational Qualification
B.Pharm: Class 12 (or equivalent) passed with English, and with Physics and Chemistry along with Mathematics or Biology. Both PCB and PCM students qualify.
Pharm.D: Class 12 passed with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, plus Mathematics or Biology. For some candidature types, a Diploma in Pharmacy approved by the Pharmacy Council of India is also accepted.
Appearing students: Class 12 students can write MHT CET in the same year as their board exams. They must have passed by the time of CAP document verification.
Entrance Score Requirement
Maharashtra State candidates: Must appear in all subjects of MHT CET and obtain a non-zero score.
All India candidates: A non-zero NEET score or a non-zero MHT CET score is accepted. Candidates with a valid NEET score get preference over MHT CET scorers for these seats.
Age Limit and Other Conditions
The CET Cell does not prescribe an upper age limit for MHT CET. Minimum aggregate marks in Class 12, category rules and domicile documents are set out in the CAP information brochure for each year, so check the version for your admission year before you apply. For the 2026 cycle, candidates also needed an APAAR ID, created through DigiLocker, to complete MHT CET registration.
PCB or PCM: Which Group Should You Choose?
If you have Biology in Class 12 and want only pharmacy, PCB is the natural choice. If you have Mathematics and also want to keep engineering open, PCM keeps both doors open for B.Pharm. Students with all four subjects can register for both groups, but each group is a separate test with a separate score, and the group chosen cannot be changed after registration.
Application Fee and How to Apply
Category | Fee per attempt (2026 cycle) |
|---|---|
Open, OMS and J&K migrant candidates | Rs. 1,300 |
Reserved categories (Maharashtra candidates only), PwD, orphan and transgender candidates | Rs. 1,000 |
Late fee | Rs. 500 additional |
These are 2026 figures. The 2027 fee will be confirmed in the information brochure, so treat this table as a reference until then.
Steps to Register
Visit the official CET Cell website and open the MHT CET registration link for the current cycle.
Register with your name, mobile number and email ID, and create a password.
Fill in personal, academic and category details, and select the PCB group (or PCM, or both).
Choose the medium of the question paper and your preferred exam district.
Upload your photograph, signature and supporting documents in the format the form asks for.
Pay the fee online, then download and keep a copy of the confirmation page.
Common mistakes to avoid: a name that does not match your Class 10 certificate, a missing or unlinked APAAR ID, the wrong group, and claiming a category without a valid certificate. Group and medium cannot be changed later, so check them twice before paying.
MHT CET Pharmacy Exam Pattern
The PCB paper has two sections. Physics and Chemistry are taken together first, and Biology follows. Each section has its own 90-minute timer, and you cannot return to the first section once its time is over.
Paper | Subject | Questions | Marks per question | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Paper 1 | Physics | 50 | 1 | 50 | 90 minutes (shared) |
Paper 1 | Chemistry | 50 | 1 | 50 | 90 minutes (shared) |
Paper 2 | Biology (Botany and Zoology) | 100 | 1 | 100 | 90 minutes |
Total | PCB | 200 | - | 200 | 180 minutes |
For PCM candidates, the second paper is Mathematics: 50 questions at 2 marks each, also in 90 minutes. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are available in English, Marathi and Urdu, while Mathematics is set in English only.
What This Means for You
Biology is half the paper: 100 of the 200 marks come from Biology, so it decides most ranks in the PCB group.
Speed matters in Biology: 100 questions in 90 minutes leaves under a minute per question, which rewards fast recall of textbook facts.
Physics and Chemistry share one clock: 100 questions in 90 minutes, so long numericals should not eat into Chemistry time.
No negative marking: Never leave a question blank. Mark your best guess before the timer runs out.
Some older pages show 100 marks each for Physics and Chemistry in the PCB group. That is incorrect: the two subjects together carry 100 marks. For a full breakdown, read the MHT CET Pharmacy exam pattern page.
MHT CET Pharmacy Syllabus Summary
The syllabus follows the Maharashtra State Board (SCERT) textbooks: the full Class 12 syllabus and selected Class 11 chapters. About 20% of questions come from Class 11 and about 80% from Class 12.
Subject | Class 11 chapters (selected) | Class 12 focus areas |
|---|---|---|
Physics | Vectors, Error Analysis, Motion in a Plane, Laws of Motion, Gravitation, Thermal Properties of Matter, Sound, Optics, Electrostatics, Semiconductors | Rotational Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Wave Optics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, Semiconductor Devices |
Chemistry | Basic Concepts, Structure of Atom, Chemical Bonding, Redox Reactions, Group 1 and 2 Elements, States of Matter, Surface Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Basic Organic Chemistry, Chemistry in Everyday Life | Solutions, Ionic Equilibria, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Compounds, Halogen Derivatives, Aldehydes and Ketones, Amines, Biomolecules |

Result, Percentile and Score Calculation
MHT CET runs in several sessions, so the CET Cell publishes results as percentiles rather than raw marks. A percentile shows the share of candidates in your session who scored at or below you, which keeps scores comparable when papers differ slightly in difficulty. A 95 percentile, for example, means you scored at or above 95% of candidates in that session.
Results are released on the CET Cell portal, where you log in with your registered email ID and password. With two attempts, the better percentile is carried into CAP. In 2026, 11 candidates scored 100 percentile in the first PCB attempt and 4 in the second, according to the official press notes.
CAP Admission for B.Pharm and Pharm.D
After the results, admission to B.Pharm and Pharm.D in government, aided, university-managed and private colleges in Maharashtra runs through a separate CAP process. Writing MHT CET does not register you for CAP; you must register again when the pharmacy CAP notice is released.
CAP registration: Fill in the online form and upload documents. MHT CET registrants pay no separate fee; NEET-only candidates pay a registration fee.
Document verification: Choose e-scrutiny (online) or physical scrutiny at a facilitation centre, then confirm your application.
Merit lists: A provisional merit list is released first, followed by a grievance window and the final merit list.
Option form and allotment: Fill college and course preferences, then accept, freeze or float your allotted seat in each round.
Reporting: Report to the allotted college with original documents and fees within the deadline.
Cut-off: How to Read It
There is no single MHT CET Pharmacy cut-off. Each college, course, category and seat type has its own closing percentile, published by the CET Cell after every CAP round. Government and well-known aided colleges usually close at much higher percentiles than newer private colleges, and Pharm.D seats are fewer than B.Pharm seats.
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, seats and the number of applicants. Treat previous closing percentiles as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
How to Prepare for MHT CET Pharmacy
MHT CET rewards close reading of the State Board textbooks more than advanced problem-solving.
Start with Biology: Read every Class 12 Biology chapter line by line, including diagrams, tables and examples. Then cover the four Class 11 chapters.
Keep Chemistry steady: Organic named reactions and inorganic properties are fast marks. Physical Chemistry formulas need short daily practice.
Make Physics formula-ready: Most Physics questions are direct applications. A one-page formula sheet per chapter saves time in the exam.
Practise under time: Train for Biology at 100 questions in 90 minutes, and for Physics and Chemistry together in one 90-minute block.
Use both attempts well: Treat attempt 1 as your main target. Use the gap before attempt 2 to fix the weak chapters your first score exposed.
Mock Tests and Previous Papers
Full-length mocks in the current pattern are the closest you can get to the real paper. Take one every week from the last two months, analyse it the same day, and keep an error log of wrong and slow questions. For timed practice.
