MP Police SI Notification 2026 Overview

MPESB released the rulebook for the 2026 cycle on 1 September 2026 and posted an updated version on 9 September 2026, when the online application window opened. The cycle covers 507 posts: 462 in non-technical streams and 45 in technical streams. Non-MP candidates can apply only against unreserved posts and do not get reservation or age relaxation.

On 15 October 2026 the official application portal reopened the form for 15 to 20 October 2026. This window is only for applicants covered by a High Court interim order in related court cases. It is not a general reopening.

The 2026 cycle follows the structure of the 2025 cycle. The 2025 test, for 500 posts, held its prelims from 16 to 21 January 2026, the mains on 29 April 2026 and declared the final result in July 2026. If you took that cycle, the stages and paper structure will look familiar.

MP Police SI Exam Pattern

Stage 1: Preliminary Exam

Test

Questions

Marks

Time

Objective paper (10 subjects)

100

100

2 hours

There is no negative marking in prelims, and the score is used only to shortlist for mains.

Stage 2: Main Exam

Paper

Parts

Marks

Time

Paper I: General Studies

History and Indian Society; Governance, Constitution and Social Justice

300

2 hours

Paper II: General Studies

Current Affairs, Technology, Economy, Environment and Internal Security; Reasoning and Data Interpretation

300

2 hours

Technical paper (technical posts only)

Mechanical Engineering (Arms) or PCM (Photo, Q.D., Finger Print)

300

2 hours

In mains, one-third of the marks for a question are deducted for each wrong answer. Unanswered questions are not penalised.

What this means for you:

  • Prelims is a filter: Attempt every question you can reason through, because a wrong answer costs nothing.

  • Mains decides your rank: With negative marking, guess only when you can rule out at least two options.

  • Reasoning is half a paper: Part B of Paper II carries 150 marks, so steady numeracy practice pays off directly.

Older pages may still show the earlier single-stage written pattern, so follow the 2026 rulebook.

How to Prepare for MP Police SI

Prelims

Prelims covers ten subjects, so breadth matters more than depth. Build a daily routine of Hindi and English reading, reasoning sets and 30 to 40 minutes of current affairs. Since there is no negative marking, practise attempting all 100 questions within the two hours.

Mains

Mains rewards depth in Indian history, polity, society and internal security, and accuracy in reasoning. Make short notes topic by topic, and add MP-specific facts such as tribes, districts and state schemes. Practise mixed sets with the one-third penalty in mind.

Physical Test

Start running practice early, not after the mains result. The 800 m run alone carries 40 of the 100 PET marks, and the time between mains and PET can be short.

MP Police SI Cut-Off Reference

For the 2025 cycle, reported prelims qualifying scores were normalised values close to 98 for unreserved candidates and lower for reserved categories. Mains and final cut-offs are published by MPESB as PDFs with the results.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them.
