MP Police SI Cut-Off: Previous Year Scores and Trend
The MP Police SI cut-off is the minimum score that moves you from one stage to the next in the Subedar and Sub Inspector recruitment run by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB). There are three cut-offs to think about: the prelims qualifying score for mains, the mains score for the physical test, and the final merit cut-off after PET and interview. Each is set category-wise.
Prelims cut-offs are published as normalised scores, not raw marks, because the exam runs in several shifts. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
MP Police SI Previous Year Cut-Off (2025 Prelims)
The 2025 cycle had 500 posts. Its prelims ran from 16 to 21 January 2026, and the result on 12 March 2026 shortlisted 5,734 candidates for mains. The figures below are as reported from the MPESB result notice.
Category | Mains shortlist size (reported) | Prelims cut-off 2025 (normalised score) |
|---|---|---|
Unreserved (87% part) | 1,350 | 98.725864 |
OBC (87% part) | 720 | 97.304413 |
EWS (87% part) | 490 | 96.605055 |
SC (87% part) | 800 | 90.104363 |
ST (87% part) | 1,000 | 76.776205 |
Unreserved (13% part) | 640 | 96.842818 |
OBC (13% part) | 640 | 95.941390 |
The 87% and 13% split is reported to reflect how MPESB is holding back a share of posts linked to the pending OBC reservation case. These figures come from a reported copy of the result, so confirm them in the official PDF on esb.mp.gov.in. Mains and final cut-offs for 2025 are published by MPESB with the mains result (May 2026) and final result (July 2026).
MP Police SI Cut-Off Trend
The prelims cut-off for reserved categories other than SC and ST sat close to the unreserved line in 2025. The gap was about 1 to 2 points for OBC and EWS, and much wider for SC and ST. Since prelims shortlists about 10 times the vacancies in each category, the cut-off depends heavily on how many posts each category has in a cycle.
The 2026 cycle has 507 posts, close to the 500 in 2025, but the post mix is different. Subedar posts rose to 81 and technical posts were added, so do not expect the 2025 figures to repeat exactly.
What Affects the MP Police SI Cut-Off
Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers raw scores, though normalisation evens out differences between shifts.
Vacancies by category: More posts in a category mean more candidates shortlisted and a lower cut-off.
Number of applicants: Higher competition pushes cut-offs up, especially in the unreserved category.
Normalisation: Scores across shifts are converted to a common scale, so your normalised score can differ from your raw marks.
Horizontal reservation: Separate lists for women, ex-servicemen and police personnel can have their own cut-offs.
How to Set Your Target
Unreserved, OBC and EWS qualifying scores sat near the top of the normalised scale in 2025, so treat prelims as a competitive stage, not a formality. Because there is no negative marking, practise attempting all 100 questions with high accuracy, and keep pushing your mock scores up rather than stopping at a fixed number. For mains, which carries 600 marks and a one-third penalty, accuracy matters as much as attempts. Track your mains mock scores against the 600-mark total and aim to improve every week.
Official results and cut-off PDFs are posted on the MPESB website.
