MPSC Rajyaseva Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Conditions
MPSC Rajyaseva eligibility rests on four checks: Indian citizenship, a bachelor's degree, an age limit counted on a fixed date, and knowledge of Marathi. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission sets these in each advertisement for the combined preliminary examination, which screens candidates for State Services posts such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Tahsildar.
This page explains each condition for the 2026 cycle, with an age relaxation table, post-specific rules and common reasons candidates are found ineligible. Applications for the 2026 cycle closed on 20 January 2026, so use this page to check your eligibility for the next cycle as well. Category-wise figures below are indicative, based on previous MPSC advertisements; the advertisement you apply under is the final word.

Educational qualification
For most State Services posts, you need a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a university recognised by law, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government. Your marks or division do not matter for most posts.
Post-specific degrees: Some posts need a particular degree. For example, Assistant Director in the Maharashtra Finance and Accounts Service has asked for a commerce degree with set minimum marks or a professional finance qualification, and Industries Officer (Technical) needs an engineering, technology or science degree.
Final-year students: You can usually apply for the prelims while in your final year, but you must hold the degree by the date set in the advertisement, generally before applying for the Mains.
Equivalence: If your degree is from a deemed or foreign university, keep proof of equivalence ready for document verification.
MPSC age limit
Age is counted on the date stated in the advertisement. The minimum age is 19 years. The upper limit is 38 years for the Open category, with relaxation for other categories as below.
Category | Upper age limit (indicative) |

Open | 38 years |
Backward classes (SC, ST, VJ/DT, NT, SBC, OBC, SEBC) and EWS | 43 years |
Orphans | 43 years |
Eligible sportspersons | 43 years |
Persons with disabilities | 45 years |
Ex-servicemen | As per state rules (service period adjusted) |
These limits come from previous MPSC advertisements and can differ by post. Age relaxation for reserved categories applies only to candidates domiciled in Maharashtra with valid certificates. Some limits for posts such as Deputy Superintendent of Police may differ, so check the post-wise table in the advertisement.
