Rajasthan Patwari Syllabus 2026: Subject-wise Topics and Study Plan
The Rajasthan Patwari syllabus covers five subjects in one objective paper: General Science and India GK, Rajasthan GK, Hindi and English, Reasoning with Basic Numerical Efficiency, and Basic Computer. The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) publishes this syllabus with the Patwari exam scheme, and the latest version is the one used for Patwar 2025 (Advertisement No. 02/2025).
This page lists every topic in the official syllabus, shows how many marks each subject carries, and turns the list into a study order you can follow. RSSB has not released a new Patwari advertisement as of October 2026, so the 2025 syllabus is the best guide to prepare from. When a new notification comes out, check whether the syllabus has been revised.

Key Points to Know Before You Start
One paper, no stages of syllabus: There is no prelims and mains for Patwari. Everything below is tested in a single 300-mark paper, after you qualify the CET.
Rajasthan GK is its own subject: 60 marks come only from Rajasthan history, culture, polity and geography. General India GK will not cover this.
Reasoning and maths are combined: The single largest block, 90 marks, mixes reasoning with basic arithmetic. Both need daily practice.
Hindi carries real weight: General Hindi and General English are tested together. In past papers, Hindi grammar topics such as sandhi and samas have been an important part of this section.
Older syllabus pages may differ: Some pages still show the older two-stage Patwari scheme or older section names. Follow the syllabus attached to the current RSSB notification.
General Science, India GK and Current Affairs Syllabus
This section carries 76 marks and is the widest in scope. It tests school-level science and the basics of Indian history, polity, economy and geography, along with current events.
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
General Science | Basic physics, chemistry and biology; the human body; food, nutrition and health; hygiene and common diseases | Human body systems and nutrition |
Indian History | Ancient and medieval India; major events and movements from the 18th century to the present; the freedom struggle | Modern India and the national movement |
Indian Polity and Economy | Indian Constitution, political system and governance, economic development, important schemes | Fundamental rights, duties and Parliament |
Indian Geography | Physical features of India, rivers, climate, soils, natural resources | Physical divisions and river systems |
Environment | Environmental and ecological changes and their effects | Pollution, climate change and conservation |
Current Affairs | National and international events, international organisations, awards, sports, schemes | Last 12 months of events |
Questions here are usually direct and factual. Science and polity are the most predictable parts, so build them first and then add current affairs as a daily 30-minute habit.
Rajasthan GK Syllabus
Rajasthan GK carries 60 marks, and with General cut-offs above 250 out of 300 in 2025, every mark here counts. The official syllabus lists these topics.
History and Freedom Movement
Major historical events: Important dynasties, rulers, battles and their significance in Rajasthan's history.
Freedom movement and people's movements: Peasant and tribal movements, praja mandals and the role of Rajasthan in the national movement.
Political unification: The stages through which the princely states joined to form Rajasthan.
Administration and Polity
State institutions: Governor, State Legislature, High Court and Rajasthan Public Service Commission.
District administration: Structure and role of the district collector and revenue officials.
Commissions and bodies: State Human Rights Commission, State Election Commission, Lokayukta and State Information Commission.
Public policy: Major state government policies and schemes.
Art, Culture and Heritage
Art and architecture: Painting schools, handicrafts, forts, palaces and temples.
Fairs and festivals: Major fairs, festivals, folk music and folk dances.
Language and literature: Rajasthani language, dialects and literature.
Religion: Religious movements, saints and folk deities.
Tourism and personalities: Important tourist places and well-known people of Rajasthan.
Rajasthan geography is part of the subject heading, so also cover physical divisions, rivers and lakes, climate, soils, crops, minerals and wildlife sanctuaries of the state. Make one-page notes for each area and revise them every week.
General Hindi and General English Syllabus
This section carries 44 marks across 22 questions. Hindi and English are tested side by side, so do not prepare only one language.
General Hindi
Topic | What to practise |
|---|---|
Sandhi and sandhi vichhed | Joining and splitting words, with rules for each type of sandhi |
Upsarg and pratyay | Prefixes and suffixes, and identifying them in words |
Samas | Making compound words and splitting them (samas vigrah) |
Words | Homonyms, synonyms and antonyms |
Spelling and sentences | Correcting misspelt words and errors in sentences |
Vakyansh | One word for a phrase |
Muhavare and lokoktiyan | Idioms and proverbs with their meanings |
Administrative terms | Hindi equivalents of English official and administrative terms |
General English
Comprehension: Reading an unseen passage and answering questions on it.
Error correction and usage: Spotting common errors and choosing the correct usage.
Vocabulary: Synonyms and antonyms.
Phrases and idioms: Meanings of common phrases and idioms.
The English level is basic. Regular practice of error spotting and vocabulary is usually enough to secure most of these marks.
Reasoning and Basic Numerical Efficiency Syllabus
This is the largest section, with 45 questions for 90 marks. Speed and accuracy here can lift your score more than any other subject.
Mental Ability and Reasoning
Topic group | Topics |
|---|---|
Series and patterns | Number and letter series, analogy, figure matrix, classification, inserting the missing character or number |
Verbal reasoning | Alphabet test, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, logical arrangement of words |
Arrangement and order | Seating arrangement, ranking and time sequence, input-output |
Logical judgement | Drawing conclusions and decisions from a passage |
Basic Numerical Efficiency
Topic | Focus |
|---|---|
Basic operations, average and ratio | Fast calculation, simplification, average and ratio problems |
Percentage | Percentage change and its use in other topics |
Simple and compound interest | Formulas and short methods |
Unitary method | Work, time and quantity problems |
Profit and loss | Cost price, selling price, discount |
Area and volume | Basic mensuration of common 2D and 3D shapes |
Start with percentage, because profit and loss and interest depend on it. In reasoning, coding-decoding, series and blood relations are quick to learn and give steady marks.
Basic Computer Syllabus
Basic Computer has 15 questions for 30 marks. The syllabus is short and fixed, which makes it one of the easiest sections to master.
Characteristics of computers: Speed, accuracy, storage and the generations of computers.
Computer organisation: RAM, ROM, the file system and input devices.
Software: Types of software and the relationship between hardware and software.
Operating system: Functions of an operating system and common operations.
MS Office: MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, including common features, menus and shortcut keys.
Since a computer qualification is already part of eligibility, many candidates know the basics. Revise MS Office features and shortcut keys, as they appear often in RSSB papers.
Overlap Between the CET and the Patwari Syllabus
You must qualify the CET Graduate Level before applying for Patwari. Much of what you study for the CET also counts for the Patwari paper, so plan both together.
Area | In CET Graduate Level | In Patwari exam | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
Rajasthan GK | Yes | Yes, 60 marks | Prepare once in depth; it serves both exams |
Reasoning and maths | Yes | Yes, 90 marks | Daily practice from the start |
Hindi and English | Yes | Yes, 44 marks | Build grammar rules early and practise weekly |
Basic Computer | Yes | Yes, 30 marks | Short syllabus; finish it in two to three weeks |
India GK and current affairs | Yes | Yes, 76 marks | Keep monthly current affairs notes |
The CET syllabus is set in its own advertisement, so match this table against the CET notification you appear under.
What to Study From for Each Subject
The syllabus is set at a school-to-graduation level, so standard school textbooks cover most of it. Keep the number of sources small and revise them several times rather than collecting many books.
Subject | Suggested sources | Tip |
|---|---|---|
General Science | NCERT science textbooks for Classes 6 to 10 | Focus on the human body, nutrition and everyday science |
India GK | NCERT history, geography and polity books, plus one basic polity book | Make one-page summaries for each chapter |
Rajasthan GK | Rajasthan Board school textbooks on Rajasthan history and culture, and one standard Rajasthan GK book | Revise fairs, folk deities and dynasties weekly |
Hindi and English | One Hindi grammar book and one basic English grammar book | Learn sandhi and samas rules with examples |
Reasoning and maths | Any standard book for state-level exams, plus previous Patwari and CET papers | Practise a fixed number of questions every day |
Basic Computer | Your computer course material (RS-CIT, O Level or similar) and MS Office practice on a computer | Try the shortcut keys yourself instead of only reading them |
Current affairs | A daily newspaper and a monthly compilation | Note Rajasthan-specific schemes separately |
Common Mistakes While Covering the Syllabus
Treating Rajasthan GK as general reading: It needs structured notes and repeated revision, just like any core subject.
Leaving computer to the end: 30 marks from a short syllabus are easy to secure if you finish it early and revise it often.
Ignoring Hindi grammar: Many candidates who are comfortable with Hindi still lose marks on sandhi, samas and spelling rules.
Reading without practice: Reasoning and maths improve only through regular timed practice, not by reading solved examples.
Skipping previous papers: Past Patwari papers show the depth of each topic and stop you from over-preparing areas that are rarely asked.
How to Cover the Rajasthan Patwari Syllabus
A phased plan keeps the large India GK section from crowding out the subjects that carry more marks per hour of study.
Weeks 1 to 4, foundations: Start percentage, ratio and average, basic reasoning topics, Hindi grammar rules and the computer syllabus. Begin reading current affairs for 30 minutes a day.
Weeks 5 to 10, Rajasthan and India GK: Cover Rajasthan history, culture and administration, then Indian polity, history and science. Make short notes as you go.
Weeks 6 onward, topic tests: After each topic, solve a short topic-wise test to check understanding before moving on.
Weeks 11 to 14, sectional practice: Take timed sectional tests, especially for reasoning and Rajasthan GK, and solve previous Patwari papers.
Final phase, full mocks: Take full-length mocks in the 150-question format, analyse them the same day and revise from your error log.
RSSB publishes question papers and answer keys after each exam on its answer key section. Solving the Patwar 2025 and 2021 papers shows how each topic in this syllabus is actually asked.
