RBI Security Guard Cut-Off: What to Aim For
A single RBI Security Guard cut-off number does not exist in the way it does for large recruitment exams. In the last cycle, selection was office-wise and rank-based, so the marks needed depend on the office you chose, your category and how many candidates cleared the physical test.
This page explains what RBI actually published after the 2021 drive, why we are not listing a category-wise cut-off table, and how to set a target score that works whichever cut-off emerges. Treat any figure you see elsewhere as a benchmark at best, and check the RBI recruitment portal for results.
What RBI Published After the Last Cycle
Item | What was released (2021 cycle) |
|---|---|
Online test | Held on 20 March 2021 |
Marksheets | Candidate-wise marksheets, downloadable with registration or roll number and date of birth for a limited period |
Results and merit lists | Reported on 26 June 2021, followed by the physical test for shortlisted candidates |
Final result | Reported on 3 November 2021, as roll numbers of finally selected candidates, office by office |
We could not find an official category-wise cut-off table among these. Some third-party pages list cut-off marks, but none of them points to an RBI document, so we have not reproduced them. If a verified figure becomes available, it will be added here with its source.
Why There Is No Single Number
Office-wise hiring: The 2021 notification listed 241 posts across 18 offices, from 84 in Mumbai to 2 in Chandigarh. A small office with few posts can close at a higher score than a large one.
Category vacancies: The posts were split as 113 General, 45 OBC, 18 EWS, 32 SC and 33 ST. Each category competes within its own vacancies.
Physical test attrition: Because the physical test is qualifying, the final merit line moves down or up with the number of candidates who clear it.
Paper difficulty and attendance: A harder paper lowers raw marks for everyone, and the number of applicants changes the competition.
How to Set Your Target Score
Cut-offs change every cycle with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
Pick your office first: Note its post count in your category from the notification. Fewer posts mean you should push your target higher.
Use accuracy as your anchor: With 100 marks in total, aim for 85 or more in mocks at 90 percent accuracy. This gives a cushion in a harder paper.
Balance the sections: Since reasoning carries 40 marks, make sure it is not your weakest section.
Track a rolling average: Judge yourself on the average of your last five full mocks, not your best one.
