RRB Technician Grade 1 Signal Eligibility 2026

RRB Technician Grade 1 Signal eligibility depends on three things: a science or engineering qualification from the approved list, an age between 18 and 33 years on the reference date, and fitness for the B1 medical standard. The rules below follow the CEN 02/2026 notification as reported, and they will help you decide quickly whether you can apply in this or a later cycle.

The application window for CEN 02/2026 closed on 29 July 2026, so this page also works as a checklist for the next Technician notification. Always confirm the exact cut-off dates in the notification of the cycle you are applying for.

Grade 1 and Grade 3 are different

Technician Grade 3 uses a Matriculation or SSLC plus ITI or Act Apprenticeship route. Some pages mix the two grades and show ITI as the Grade 1 qualification. For Grade 1 Signal, use the qualification list above, and read the exact wording in the notification annexure.

Which streams count as relevant

The notification lists the relevant engineering streams for each post. Electronics, electrical and instrumentation branches are the most commonly accepted for signal work, but the final list is in the notification. If your branch is not clearly listed, check with the RRB helpdesk before you apply.

Age limit and relaxation

The age limit is 18 to 33 years as on 1 July 2026. This gives a date of birth on or after 2 July 1993 and on or before 1 July 2008 for general candidates. Upper-age relaxation is added for eligible categories as per government rules.
