Latest Update: Where the 2024-25 Cycle Stands
RSSB issued the Class IV notification on 12 December 2024 with 52,453 posts. Before the application window opened, the board added more posts, and the final figure became 53,749. Online applications ran from 21 March to 19 April 2025 through the Rajasthan SSO and recruitment portal.
About 24.71 lakh candidates applied, and 21.17 lakh (around 85.68%) appeared in the written exam held in 38 districts. The provisional answer key came out in October 2025, and the first list of candidates shortlisted for document verification came out on 16 January 2026. After objections, RSSB revised the answer key for one question and released a revised result with new cut-offs in June 2026.
No new Class IV cycle yet: The RSSB exam calendar for 2026 does not list a fresh Class IV exam. Any new advertisement will appear on the official website first.
Do not confuse it with other Class IV exams: The Rajasthan High Court runs its own Class IV recruitment. That is a separate exam with its own notification and is not covered here.

RSMSSB Grade 4 Exam Pattern
There is one objective paper set at the level of the Rajasthan Board Secondary examination. All questions carry equal marks.
Section | Questions |
|---|---|
General Hindi | 30 |
General English | 15 |
General Knowledge (Rajasthan geography, history and culture, polity, science, current affairs, basic computer) | 50 |
General Mathematics | 25 |
Total (200 marks, 2 hours) | 120 |
Negative marking: One-third of the marks of a question are deducted for each wrong answer.
Option E rule: Each question has a fifth option for "not attempted". Leaving all five bubbles blank on more than 10% of questions can lead to disqualification.
Mode: The notification allowed online or offline mode. The 2025 exam was held offline on OMR sheets.
What this means for you
Hindi and GK decide the paper: Together they make up 80 of the 120 questions, so they need the most preparation time.
Guessing has a cost: Three wrong answers cancel one correct answer, so attempt only when you can eliminate options.
Read the full RSMSSB Grade 4 exam pattern for timing strategy. Some websites show a different question split, so follow the official syllabus on the RSSB website.

Subject | Important topics |

General science and computer | Metals and non-metals, light, human body, diseases, waste management; MS Office, internet, email |
General Mathematics | HCF and LCM, percentage, profit and loss, interest, ratio, time and work, speed and distance, charts |
The topic-wise list with a study plan is on the RSMSSB Grade 4 syllabus page.
Selection Process
Written exam: Scores are normalised when the paper runs in several shifts, and a merit list is drawn up by category and area.
Document verification: Shortlisted candidates submit a detailed application form and attend verification with original certificates.
Final selection and allotment: Selection depends on merit, verified eligibility and vacancies. There is no interview, physical test or skill test.
Salary and Job Profile
Class IV employees are placed in Pay Matrix Level 1 of the Rajasthan government pay structure. As per state rules, newly appointed staff serve a probation period on a fixed remuneration before moving to the regular pay scale with allowances. Exact figures depend on the latest state orders, so treat any number you see online as indicative.
The work is support work in offices: handling files and records, carrying papers between sections, helping with office upkeep and assisting officers. The post offers a permanent state government job with leave, pension benefits under current rules and the chance to prepare for higher exams.
How to Prepare for the RSMSSB Grade 4 Exam
Start with Rajasthan GK: Geography, history, culture and polity of Rajasthan form the core of the GK section. Make short notes district by district and revise them weekly.
Treat Hindi as a scoring section: With 30 questions, grammar topics like sandhi, samas, synonyms and correction can lift your score quickly.
Keep maths simple and fast: The topics are Class 10 arithmetic. Daily practice of 15 to 20 questions builds speed.
Read current affairs monthly: Focus on Rajasthan schemes, events and appointments along with national news.
Practise on OMR-style tests: Get used to marking option E and to the time pressure of 120 questions in 2 hours.
Previous Cut-off Reference
These are selected revised cut-offs out of 200 for the Non-TSP area, released by RSSB in June 2026 and rounded to two decimals.
Category (General sub-category) | Secretariat | Other departments (ARD) |
|---|---|---|
General | 174.72 | 153.77 |
OBC | 172.37 | 148.52 |
EWS | 171.89 | 142.49 |
MBC | 168.82 | 142.00 |
SC | 163.85 | 134.90 |
ST | 157.06 | 125.31 |
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them. The full table, including women and TSP figures, is on the RSMSSB Grade 4 cut-off page.
