RSMSSB Grade 4 Syllabus 2026: Subject-Wise Topics Guide

The RSMSSB Grade 4 syllabus covers four subjects: General Hindi, General English, General Knowledge with a strong Rajasthan focus, and General Mathematics. The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), formerly RSMSSB, published this syllabus for the Class IV Employee Direct Recruitment under Advertisement No. 19/2024, and the September 2025 exam followed it. Questions are set at the level of the Secondary (Class 10) examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan.

This page breaks the syllabus into topics you can tick off, shows how many questions each part carries, and suggests where to start. RSSB has not announced a new Class IV cycle yet, so treat this as the working syllabus until a fresh notification says otherwise. If the board changes the syllabus for the next cycle, the new notice on the official website will take priority over this page.

Key Points Before You Start

  • The level is Class 10: The board sets questions at Secondary level. You do not need graduate-level depth, but you do need wide coverage and speed.

  • Rajasthan GK is the core of GK: Three of the six GK parts (30 questions) are about Rajasthan's geography, history and culture, and administration. Current affairs also includes Rajasthan events.

  • Hindi carries the most questions: At 30 questions, General Hindi is the largest single subject. Strong grammar can give you a lead over other candidates.

  • Computer is part of GK: Basic Computer has 5 questions inside the GK section, not a separate paper.

  • Watch out for different splits online: Some websites show a different question split, for example 20 Hindi questions and 20 each for Rajasthan geography and history. These do not match the scheme published with Advertisement No. 19/2024, so follow the official syllabus and any new notice from RSSB.

General Hindi Syllabus

The Hindi section tests grammar and the kind of Hindi used in government offices. Most questions are short and rule-based, so regular practice pays off quickly.

  • Translation: Translating simple sentences from Hindi to English and from English to Hindi.

  • Official terms: Glossary of official and technical terms with their Hindi equivalents.

How Questions Are Framed

Knowing the topic is half the job. The other half is recognising the question format quickly. Across the syllabus, you will mostly meet these kinds of questions:

  • Direct recall: Most Rajasthan GK and science questions ask for one fact, such as the district of a fort, the river on which a project is built or the cause of a disease. Short notes and repeated revision work best here.

  • Match and pair: Folk deities with their places, fairs with their months or dances with their regions often appear as matching lists. Learn these as tables, not as paragraphs.

  • Statement-based: Polity and administration questions may give two or three statements and ask which are correct. Read every word, because one wrong detail makes the whole statement false.

  • Rule application: Hindi and English grammar questions test whether you can apply a rule, for example splitting a sandhi or changing a sentence to passive voice.

  • Short calculation: Maths questions are usually one or two steps. Speed comes from knowing the shortcut, not from long working.

The best way to see these formats is to solve the question papers RSSB published for the 2025 shifts. They show the real mix of easy and tricky questions.

Rajasthan GK Sub-Topic Checklist

Rajasthan GK is where most candidates lose track, because the syllabus lines are broad. Break each part into the sub-topics below and tick them off as you finish your notes.

GK part

Sub-topics to list in your notes

Best note format

Geography of Rajasthan

Physical divisions, Aravalli range, rivers and drainage, lakes, soils, forests and wildlife areas, irrigation projects, census figures, highways

Outline map plus one-page tables

History of Rajasthan

Freedom movement and peasant movements, integration stages, important personalities

Timeline with dates

Art and culture

Folk deities, saints, fairs and festivals, folk dances, folk music and instruments, painting styles, dress and ornaments, dialects, forts and tourist places

Matching tables (item, place, feature)

Polity and administration

Governor, Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Legislative Assembly, High Court, Chief Secretary, district and police administration, RTI Act

Short points with article or rule numbers where relevant

Current affairs (Rajasthan)

State schemes, budget announcements, appointments, awards, sports and events

Monthly one-page sheet

Use the question papers RSSB published for the 2025 shifts to see which of these sub-topics were asked. Any topic trend you draw from those papers is indicative only, because the board does not publish topic-wise weightage inside each part.

Common Syllabus Mistakes

  • Studying graduate-level books: The paper is at Class 10 level. Very detailed books take time away from revision without adding many marks.

  • Skipping official Hindi: Office orders, circulars and technical terms are part of the Hindi syllabus and are easy marks once learnt.

  • Ignoring the small sections: General Science, Basic Computer and English together carry 25 questions. That is more than a fifth of the paper.

  • Leaving current affairs to the end: Ten questions depend on a year of news. Build monthly notes from the start.

Which Topics to Start With

Priority

Topics

Why

First

Hindi grammar, percentage and ratio, Rajasthan geography

Large question share and they support other topics

Second

Rajasthan history and culture, polity and administration, English grammar

Factual and stable topics that need repeated revision

Third

General Science, Basic Computer, data charts

Fewer questions, quick to finish once the base is ready

Ongoing

Current affairs

Builds through the year, so start early and keep it short daily

Study Material to Use

  • Rajasthan Board textbooks: Since the paper is at Secondary level, the Class 6 to 10 textbooks of the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, are a sound base for science, maths and Rajasthan studies.

  • One standard Rajasthan GK book: Pick one book that covers geography, history, culture and administration, and revise it several times instead of reading many.

  • Official papers and answer keys: Use the question papers and final answer keys published by RSSB to check the depth of each topic.

  • Government sources for schemes: For Rajasthan schemes and policies, prefer official state government announcements over social media summaries.

12-Week Plan to Cover the Syllabus

  1. Weeks 1 to 4, build the base: Hindi grammar topics daily, maths concepts (percentage, ratio, average, interest), and Rajasthan geography. Start 30 minutes of current affairs a day with monthly notes.

  2. Weeks 5 to 8, add facts: Rajasthan history, art and culture, and polity. Cover English grammar and translation. Take topic-wise tests at the end of each week.

  3. Weeks 9 to 10, close the gaps: General Science, Basic Computer and data charts. Start sectional tests in Hindi and GK.

  4. Weeks 11 to 12, test and revise: Two or three full-length timed tests a week in the 120-question format, same-day analysis and revision from your error log.
