RSMSSB Grade 4 Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Relaxation

RSMSSB Grade 4 eligibility is easy to meet compared with most government jobs: you need a Class 10 pass and an age between 18 and 40 years. The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), formerly RSMSSB, set these rules for the Class IV Employee Direct Recruitment under Advertisement No. 19/2024, which had 53,749 posts. For that cycle, age was counted as on 1 January 2026.

The details are where candidates trip up. Age relaxation depends on your category, gender and whether you are a resident of Rajasthan. Posts in the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) area have their own rules, and the notification also lists general conditions that every candidate must meet. This page explains each rule in order, so you can check your eligibility before the next notification and keep your documents ready.

Educational Qualification

The minimum qualification is a pass in the Secondary (Class 10) examination or an equivalent from a recognised board. A Class 10 pass from the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, or from any other recognised state or central board is accepted.

  • Higher qualifications are allowed: Candidates with Class 12, a degree or higher can apply, since the rule sets only a minimum. There is no upper limit on education.

  • Open schooling: Class 10 from a recognised open school board is generally treated as equivalent. Make sure your board is recognised by the government before applying.

  • Appearing candidates: Some reports said students appearing in Class 10 could apply in the last cycle. Read the qualification date in the notification carefully, because you must hold the pass certificate by the date it states.

  • No minimum percentage: The notification asks for a pass, not a specific percentage.

Age Limit and Age Relaxation

For Advertisement No. 19/2024, candidates had to be at least 18 years old and not more than 40 years old as on 1 January 2026. Working from that date, a general category candidate would have been born between 2 January 1985 and 1 January 2008. This birth-date window is our calculation; use the window given in the notification of your cycle.

Other relaxations

Rajasthan rules also give age concessions to some special groups. The extent of relaxation for each group is set out in the notification, so treat the list below as a pointer, not a final rule.

  • Widows and divorcees: Rajasthan recruitments usually give widow and divorced women candidates special age concessions. Check the exact rule in the advertisement.

  • Persons with disabilities: Relaxation applies as per state rules, depending on category.

  • Ex-servicemen: Relaxation is given as per the Rajasthan rules for ex-servicemen.

  • State government employees: Employees working in the state government may get age relaxation under the service rules.

Relaxations do not usually combine. If you fall in more than one group, the notification normally lets you use the single most favourable relaxation, so read that clause before you work out your upper age.

Nationality and Rajasthan Domicile

You must be a citizen of India, or belong to another category the notification allows, such as certain subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, with the required certificate.

  • Reservation is for Rajasthan residents: SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS benefits, including age relaxation and lower fee, apply only to bona fide residents (mool niwasi) of Rajasthan.

  • Candidates from other states: Reserved category candidates from other states are treated as general category in Rajasthan recruitments. They get no category relaxation in age or fee.

  • Certificates must be in the right format: Caste, EWS and non-creamy layer certificates must be issued by the competent Rajasthan authority and must be valid as per the notification.

TSP and Non-TSP Area Rules

Of the 53,749 posts, 5,550 were in the TSP (Scheduled) Area and 48,199 in the Non-TSP area. The TSP area covers the tribal sub plan districts and parts of districts in southern Rajasthan.

  • Separate merit and cut-off: TSP and Non-TSP vacancies are filled from separate merit lists, and their cut-offs are very different.

  • Residence matters: TSP area posts follow the special reservation rules for the Scheduled Area, which favour bona fide residents of that area. Your residence certificate decides which merit list you can be considered for.

  • Declare it correctly: Choose your area carefully in the application. A wrong declaration can lead to rejection at document verification.

Other Conditions in the Notification

Apart from qualification, age and domicile, the Class IV advertisement sets out general conditions that every candidate must meet. Rajasthan recruitment notices commonly include clauses on matters such as dowry, marriage age, the number of children, character and medical fitness. We could not verify the exact wording of these clauses for Advertisement No. 19/2024, so read the general conditions section of the official notification yourself before you apply.

These conditions are checked through the declarations in your form and at document verification, so answer each question in the form truthfully.

Check Your Eligibility in Five Steps

  1. Confirm your qualification: Keep your Class 10 marksheet ready and check that your board is recognised. If you are still appearing, check the qualification deadline in the notification.

  2. Work out your age on the reference date: Use the date given in the notification (1 January 2026 in the last cycle), not the date you apply.

  3. Add only the relaxation you can prove: Apply the relaxation for your category and gender only if you hold a valid Rajasthan certificate for it.

  4. Decide your area: Check whether you are a bona fide resident of the TSP area or the Non-TSP area, and keep the matching residence certificate.

  5. Read the general conditions: Go through the general conditions section of the official notification before you submit the form.

  • After the written exam: Do not wait for the result. Document verification notices can come with short deadlines.

  • If a certificate has expired: Apply for a fresh one early, as issuing authorities may take several weeks.

Documents Needed for Verification

Candidates shortlisted after the written exam fill in a detailed application form and attend document verification with originals and self-attested copies. Keep these ready well in advance:

  • Class 10 marksheet and certificate: Proof of qualification and date of birth.

  • Identity proof: Aadhaar card, voter ID or another valid photo ID.

  • Category certificate: SC, ST, OBC, MBC or EWS certificate in the format and validity period the notification asks for.

  • Application printout and photographs: A copy of your online form and recent passport-size photographs.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • Not Class 10 pass by the deadline: Candidates who cannot show a pass certificate by the date the notification sets.

  • Over the age limit: General category men above 40 years on the reference date, and others above their relaxed limit.

  • Wrong category claims: Candidates who claim a category or area without a valid certificate lose that benefit or their candidature.

  • General conditions not met: Candidates who do not meet the general conditions set out in the official notification.

  • Blank OMR rule: Even an eligible candidate can be disqualified in the exam for leaving more than 10% of questions with no bubble filled.
