State Government Recruitment

Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board LDC

RSMSSB LDC is a recruitment exam conducted by Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board for the recruitment of Lower Division Clerks, relevant to candidates preparing for state government department recruitment.

The RSMSSB LDC exam is the Rajasthan government's combined recruitment for Clerk Grade-II (the post long known as Lower Division Clerk) and Junior Assistant. The board that runs it was earlier called the Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board (RSMSSB) and now works as the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), which is the name shown on its website. Many students still search for it as "RSMSSB LDC", so this page uses both names.

This page covers the 2026 cycle, run under Advertisement No. 04/2026, and the parts of the exam that stay the same from year to year. It is written for students. Year-specific facts such as dates, vacancies and cut-offs sit in labelled tables, while the preparation advice is meant to hold for the next cycle too. Where we could only confirm a detail from secondary sources, we have marked it as tentative.

Scope of this page: it deals only with the Clerk Grade-II / Junior Assistant recruitment. RSMSSB Grade 4, RSMSSB Lab Assistant and the general RSMSSB hub are separate recruitments with their own notifications, eligibility and patterns, so do not mix their rules with this one.

Where the 2026 Cycle Stands Now

As of late October 2026, the application window has closed and the written exam has been held. The board has released the written result and a shortlist for the next stage, which is the typing and efficiency test. Reports from secondary sources place the typing test tentatively in January 2027, but the detailed schedule has to come from the board itself.

If you appeared in the exam, your next job is typing practice and document readiness. If you are preparing for the next cycle, use this cycle as a model: the pattern, the cut-off level and the stage order will give you a realistic picture of what to expect.

Exam Pattern and Selection Process

Selection has three stages, and the order matters for planning.

  1. Written exam: two offline, objective papers. Paper I covers General Knowledge, Everyday Science and Mathematics. Paper II covers General Hindi and General English. Each paper is reported as 100 marks and 3 hours.

  2. Typing and efficiency test: for candidates shortlisted from the written exam, in Hindi and English.

  3. Document verification: for candidates who clear the typing test.

Reports disagree on negative marking and on the minimum qualifying percentage, so confirm both in the notification. Our RSMSSB LDC exam pattern guide explains what is firm and what is not. Older pages may still show the pattern of earlier Clerk Grade-II exams, so follow the 2026 notification.

The board gives subject names in its notification, and the topic lists you see online are built from earlier syllabi and previous questions. Use them as a working checklist. The detailed breakdown is on the RSMSSB LDC syllabus page.

Typing Test: What to Expect

The typing and efficiency test is where many written-exam qualifiers lose ground, because it needs separate practice. Secondary reports describe four parts, each of 10 minutes and 25 marks: a Hindi speed test, a Hindi efficiency test, an English speed test and an English efficiency test, giving 100 marks in all. One report also mentions a minimum of 9 marks in each part. Whether these marks count in the final merit is not stated the same way everywhere, so read the notification line on this point.

Start practising on a computer keyboard early. For Hindi, be clear about which keyboard layout the board allows, and practise on that layout only.

Salary and Career Path

Reports say selected candidates serve a two-year probation on a fixed monthly remuneration and are then placed in Pay Level 5 of the Rajasthan pay matrix, with allowances as per government rules. Sources quote different rupee ranges for this level, so we have not given a figure here. Check the pay section of the notification for the exact amounts.

A Junior Assistant works on office files, data entry, correspondence and records. Promotion to senior assistant and higher ministerial posts follows department service rules and seniority, with departmental exams for some steps.

Cut-Off Reference

For the 2026 cycle, the board published category-wise marks for the typing test shortlist. Secondary reports put the General category male marks for the Non-Scheduled Area at about 153.7 out of 200, with lower marks for reserved categories. These are reported figures, so confirm them on the official result document. See our RSMSSB LDC cut-off page for the table and for how to use it.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of candidates. Treat them as a benchmark and aim for a clear margin above them.

How to Prepare for RSMSSB LDC

The exam rewards steady coverage of many small topics plus accuracy under time. A simple phased plan works well.

  • Months 1 to 2, build the base: finish Rajasthan GK, basic science and arithmetic from standard textbooks, and revise Hindi and English grammar rules.

  • Months 3 to 4, practise by topic: take short topic tests, keep an error log and add 30 minutes of current affairs daily with monthly notes.

  • Month 5 onward, move to full papers: attempt both papers in one sitting, review on the same day and revise the error log weekly.

  • Alongside everything, type daily: 20 to 30 minutes of Hindi and English typing practice, because the typing test is a separate hurdle.

Do not skip Paper II. Hindi and English questions are quick to solve once grammar is clear, and they often decide who clears the cut-off in a close contest.

Practice With Mock Tests

Timed practice shows you things reading cannot: how long Paper I really takes, which subject drags your score down and how many careless errors you make. The board's website does not list an official mock test for this exam, so practice platforms are the practical option. Always check the official site for your admit card, schedule and results: https://rssb.rajasthan.gov.in/
