Engineering Entrance

TS EAMCET

TG EAPCET (formerly TS EAMCET) by JNTUH for TGCHE: eligibility, fees, 160-question CBT pattern, syllabus, qualifying marks, rank bands and counselling steps.

TS EAMCET Study Material

TG EAPCET, the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, is the state-level entrance test for admission to B.E., B.Tech., B.Pharm., Pharm-D, agriculture, veterinary and allied professional courses in Telangana. Many students still search for it by its former name, TS EAMCET. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) conducts the computer-based test on behalf of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE).

The 2026 cycle is complete: the tests were held in May 2026, rank cards were released on 17 May 2026, and the engineering counselling ran through June to August 2026. The TG EAPCET 2027 notification has not been released yet. This page sums up the latest official rules on eligibility, fees, pattern, syllabus, qualifying marks, ranking and counselling, so you can plan for the next cycle with accurate information.

Name change and what changed in 2026

The test was earlier called TS EAMCET (Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test). Medical courses such as MBBS moved to NEET admissions years ago, and the state now uses the name TG EAPCET. The syllabus, pattern and conducting body carry on from the older test, so previous TS EAMCET papers remain useful practice material.

  • Course list: The 2026 notification covers B.E. and B.Tech., B.Tech. specialisations such as Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, Biomedical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Engineering, B.Pharm., Pharm-D, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and Horticulture, B.V.Sc. and A.H., B.F.Sc. and B.Sc. (Nursing).

  • Local status rules: Local and unreserved status follows the 1974 admissions order as amended, read with G.O. Ms. No. 15 of the Higher Education Department dated 27 February 2025.

  • Syllabus base: Questions follow the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education syllabus in force for first year from 2024-25 and second year from 2025-26.

  • Ranking: Ranks are allotted purely on normalized TG EAPCET marks. Older pages may still mention a weightage for Intermediate marks, so follow the official instruction booklet.

Eligibility

Educational qualification

For engineering courses, you must have passed or be appearing in the final year of Intermediate (10+2) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education or an equivalent board. A Diploma from the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana, or an equivalent is also accepted for the relevant courses. For admission, you need at least 45% marks in the group subjects taken together (40% for reserved categories).

Nationality and local status

Candidates must be Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin or OCI card holders, and must meet the local or unreserved status rules. Under the 2026 rules, 85% of seats in each course are reserved for local candidates and 15% are unreserved. Full details, including who qualifies for unreserved seats, are on the TG EAPCET eligibility page.

Late fees in 2026 ran from Rs. 250 up to Rs. 10,000. Candidates who registered with a late fee of Rs. 2,500 or more were allotted a test centre in the Hyderabad IV zone only, so apply before the regular deadline.

  1. Pay the registration fee: Pay online by card or net banking, or at a TG Online centre, and note the payment reference number.

  2. Fill the online application: Enter your details, choose a test zone and submit. A filled-in application with your registration number is generated.

  3. Check and correct: Print the application, check every entry and use the edit window if something is wrong.

  4. Download the hall ticket: Download it from the official website when the link opens, and check your test centre and session.

Keep these ready before you start: your Intermediate hall ticket number, SSC hall ticket number, date of birth, a personal email ID and mobile number, caste and income details, special category details such as PH, CAP, NCC or sports, and proof of local status covering the last 12 years. Certificates are checked at counselling, not at the application stage.

  • Incomplete applications: The Convener can reject an application that is incomplete or submitted after the due date.

  • Wrong information: False or incorrect details lead to rejection at any stage, even after the result.

  • Duplicate forms: Only one application per candidate is allowed. If you submit more, the latest may be considered or all may be rejected.

Exam pattern

Both streams sit a 3-hour CBT of 160 multiple choice questions with four options each. Every question carries one mark and there is no negative marking.

What this means for you:

  • Half the paper is one subject: Mathematics (E) or Biology (AP) carries 80 of the 160 marks, so it decides most of your rank.

  • Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank earns nothing and a reasoned guess costs nothing.

  • Speed matters: You get about 67 seconds per question on average, so long calculations need shortcuts.

See the TG EAPCET exam pattern guide for session timings, normalization and the tie-break rules.

The official syllabus covers both years of Telangana Intermediate. The TG EAPCET syllabus page breaks it down unit by unit with a suggested starting order.

Qualifying marks, normalization and ranking

  1. Qualifying marks: You must score at least 25% of the maximum normalized marks, which is 40 out of 160, to receive a rank. SC and ST candidates have no minimum, but their admission is limited to the seats reserved for them.

  2. Normalization: The exam runs in several sessions with different papers. JNTUH normalizes subject marks across sessions so that no session gains or loses from a tougher or easier paper.

  3. Rank: Ranks are based purely on total normalized marks in TG EAPCET.

  4. Tie-break: Ties in the E stream are broken by normalized Mathematics marks, then Physics, then age (older first). In the AP stream, Biology marks come first, then Physics, then age.

Counselling and admission

A rank does not by itself give you a seat. For B.E., B.Tech. and Pharmacy, the Commissioner of Technical Education runs web-based counselling on tgeapcet.nic.in. You pay a processing fee (Rs. 1,200, or Rs. 600 for SC and ST in 2026), book a slot for certificate verification, enter college and branch options and report after allotment.

In 2026, the first phase started on 19 June, with seat allotments in three phases (on or before 10 July, 22 July and 5 August), followed by internal sliding and spot admissions. Agriculture, veterinary and other AP courses are filled through separate counselling notified later by the respective authorities.

How to prepare for TG EAPCET

  • Start from the Intermediate textbooks: The test is built on the Telangana Intermediate syllabus, so first and second year textbooks are your core material.

  • Give the 80-mark subject daily time: Practise Mathematics or Biology every day, and keep Physics and Chemistry on alternate slots.

  • Use previous papers: Previous TS EAMCET and TG EAPCET papers show the level of questions and the topics that repeat.

  • Practise the newer question styles: The official model questions include assertion-reason, statement-based, match-the-following and arrange-in-order formats.

  • Build CBT comfort: Try the official mock test interface so the screen, palette and Mark for Review option feel familiar.

Mock tests and revision

From about two months before the exam, take one full-length 160-question test a week, then two a week in the last month. Review each test the same day and log every wrong or slow question. For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt TG EAPCET online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to see whether Mathematics or Biology is holding your score back. Pair them with previous year papers to understand the real difficulty level.

If you prefer a structured plan, Testkart also lists courses and study material from educators for Telangana entrance preparation. You can see what is available for this exam on the TG EAPCET courses page.
