TG EAPCET (TS EAMCET) Eligibility 2026: Age, Qualification
TG EAPCET eligibility, still widely searched as TS EAMCET eligibility, decides two things: whether you can sit the test, and whether you can take a seat through counselling. JNTU Hyderabad conducts the test for TGCHE, and the rules below come from the official TG EAPCET 2026 notification and instruction booklets for the Engineering (E) and Agriculture and Pharmacy (AP) streams.
The key dates for eligibility are the 31 December age cut-off in the year of admission and your Intermediate result, since final year students may apply. This page covers nationality, local status, qualification by course, minimum marks, age limits and the common reasons candidates lose a seat.

Nationality and local status
You must be an Indian national, a Person of Indian Origin or an Overseas Citizen of India card holder. You must also satisfy the local or unreserved status rules of the 1974 admissions order as amended, read with G.O. Ms. No. 15 of the Higher Education (TE) Department dated 27 February 2025.
Under these rules, 85% of the seats in each course are reserved for local candidates. The remaining 15% are unreserved seats, open to:
Local candidates: All candidates who are eligible to be declared local.
Long-term residents: Candidates who have lived in Telangana for a total of 10 years, excluding periods of study outside the state, or whose parent lived in the state for 10 years, excluding periods of employment outside.
Children of employees: Children of parents employed in Telangana by the State or Central Government, public sector corporations, local bodies, universities or similar quasi-public bodies.
Spouses of employees: Spouses of those employed by such bodies within the state.
Proof of local status, such as study or residence certificates for the qualifying years, is checked at counselling. Keep these documents ready well before results.
Educational qualification by course
Engineering stream courses
For B.E., B.Tech., B.Tech. (Dairy Technology), B.Tech. (Ag. Engineering), B.Pharm. (MPC) and related courses, you must have passed or be appearing in the final year of Intermediate (10+2) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education or an equivalent board. Related vocational courses in engineering and technology also count. A Diploma from the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana, or an equivalent is accepted as the official notification specifies.
Agriculture and Pharmacy stream courses
Course | Subjects needed at 10+2 (any two or three as listed) |
|---|---|
B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and Horticulture | Physical sciences, biological or natural sciences, agriculture, vocational course in agriculture |
B.V.Sc. and A.H. | Physical sciences, biological or natural sciences |
B.F.Sc. | Physical sciences, biological or natural sciences, vocational course in fishery sciences |
B.Tech. (Food Technology), Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Engineering | Mathematics and physical sciences, or physical sciences and biological or natural sciences |
B.Pharm. (BiPC seats) | Physics, Chemistry and Biology, or a Diploma in Pharmacy |
B.Tech. (Biotechnology) for BiPC | Biology, Physics and Chemistry, plus the Mathematics bridge course of the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education |
B.Sc. (Nursing) | Physics, Chemistry and Biology, or Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry |
Whatever subjects you took at 10+2, candidates for these AP courses must appear for Biology, Physics and Chemistry in the AP stream test.
Pharm-D
Pharm-D seats are split 50% for MPC and 50% for BiPC candidates. You need Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, or a Diploma in Pharmacy from the Telangana State Board of Technical Education and Training or an equivalent.
Minimum marks in Intermediate
The notification sets a minimum of 45% marks in the group subjects (MPC or BiPC) taken together at 10+2, and 40% for reserved categories. The 2026 counselling notification repeats this: candidates who qualified in TG EAPCET and secured 45% (OC) or 40% (others) in the group subjects may take part.
For B.V.Sc. and A.H., a higher rule applies. As per the national regulation quoted in the notification, general category candidates need 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying exam, and SC, ST and other notified categories need 10% less.
This is separate from the TG EAPCET qualifying mark of 25% (40 out of 160) needed to get a rank. You need both: the test qualifying mark and the Intermediate group percentage.
Age limit
Course group | Minimum age | Upper age limit |
|---|---|---|
B.E., B.Tech. and B.Pharm. | 16 years as on 31 December of the admission year | None |
B.Tech. (Dairy Technology), B.Tech. (Ag. Engineering), B.Tech. (Food Technology) | 17 years as on 31 December of the admission year | 22 years; 25 years for SC and ST |
B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and Horticulture, B.V.Sc. and A.H., B.F.Sc. and other AP courses listed together | 17 years as on 31 December of the admission year | 22 years; 25 years for SC and ST |
Pharm-D | 17 years as on 31 December of the admission year | None stated |
Scholarship rules are separate from admission rules. The 2026 counselling notification states a maximum age of 25 years for OC and 29 years for other candidates, as on 1 July 2026, for obtaining a scholarship.
Who is not eligible
Local status not met: Candidates who are neither local nor in one of the unreserved groups cannot take a seat through TG EAPCET counselling.
Wrong stream: An E stream rank cannot be used for AP courses such as agriculture or veterinary science, and the reverse is also true.
Low group percentage: Candidates below 45% (or 40% for reserved categories) in the group subjects are not allowed into counselling, even with a rank.
Age outside the limits: Candidates over the upper age limit for agriculture and allied courses are not eligible for those seats.
B.Arch. aspirants: Architecture seats are not filled through TG EAPCET; candidates need NATA.
Clearing the test and getting a rank does not by itself give you a seat. The Convener can also reject an application at any stage for wrong information, so check every detail before you submit.
Documents to prove eligibility
Eligibility is checked at certificate verification during counselling, not when you apply. The 2026 counselling notification asked candidates to bring originals and two sets of photocopies of these documents:
Document | What it proves |
|---|---|
TG EAPCET rank card and hall ticket | That you took the test and qualified |
Aadhaar card | Identity |
SSC or equivalent marks memo | Date of birth, for the age rules |
Intermediate or equivalent memo-cum-pass certificate | Qualification and group subject percentage |
Study certificates from Class 6 to Intermediate | Local status based on where you studied |
Transfer certificate | Completion of your previous course |
Caste, income or EWS certificate, if applicable | Category and fee reimbursement claims; the 2026 income certificate had to be issued on or after 1 January 2026 |
Residence or employer certificate, if applicable | Unreserved status for candidates who are not local |
Special category candidates, such as PH, CAP, NCC, sports and Anglo-Indian, need additional certificates. For PH reservation, the notification states that only candidates with 40% or more disability are eligible.
Diploma holders and lateral entry
TG EAPCET fills first year seats. Diploma holders who want direct admission to the second year of B.E., B.Tech. or B.Pharm. go through a separate lateral entry test, TG ECET, and its own counselling.
Fee and documents
The 2026 registration fee was Rs. 900 per stream, or Rs. 500 for SC, ST and PH candidates; both streams together cost Rs. 1,800, or Rs. 1,000. At counselling, you need certificates for caste, income, local status and any special category such as PH, NCC, CAP or sports. The TG EAPCET exam overview covers dates and the application steps.
