UP LT Grade Cut Off 2025: Status and Target Score

The UP LT Grade cut-off is the minimum score a candidate needs to move to the next stage or into the final merit list in a subject and category. In the 2025 cycle of the UPPSC Assistant Teacher (LT Grade) recruitment, there are two cut-offs to clear: a prelims cut-off for shortlisting to the mains, and a final cut-off based on mains marks.

UPPSC has said that candidates' marks and cut-off marks are published only after the final result of a subject. Category-wise cut-offs for the 2025 cycle were not yet available at the time of writing, so this page explains how the cut-off works, what the prelims shortlisting numbers tell you, and how to set a safe target. Figures circulating online as "expected cut-offs" are estimates, not official data.

How the UP LT Grade Cut-off Works

Stage

Type of cut-off

What it decides

Prelims (300 marks)

Minimum qualifying marks plus a category-wise shortlisting cut-off

Who is called for the mains, up to about 15 times the vacancies

Mains (200 marks)

Final category-wise cut-off by subject and branch

Who enters the final selection list

Cut-offs are set separately for each subject, for the male and female branches, and for each reservation category. A Hindi cut-off tells you nothing about the Science cut-off.

Prelims Shortlisting in the 2025 Cycle

The prelims results show how many candidates cleared the minimum marks in each subject. These numbers come from UPPSC result notices as reported in the press.

Subject

Posts (male plus female branch)

Qualified for mains (as reported)

Mathematics

1,093

2,260

Science

1,337

329

English

653

7,165

Social Science

701

9,242

Biology

214

2,789

Physical Education

258

3,858

Treat these counts as indicative until you check the result PDFs on the UPPSC website. The pattern is still clear. In English and Social Science, many candidates crossed the minimum marks, so competition for mains seats was close to the 15-times ratio. In Mathematics and especially Science, far fewer candidates reached the minimum, which means some posts may stay unfilled. In those subjects, the real barrier was the minimum qualifying mark, not competition.

Official Cut-off Status

Previous LT Grade cycles

Single-exam pattern, so old cut-offs are not comparable with the new two-stage scheme

Older pages may show cut-off tables from earlier LT Grade cycles or from other teacher exams. Those were set under a different exam scheme, so do not use them as a target for the prelims and mains.

What Affects the Cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher subject paper pulls the cut-off down; an easier one pushes it up.

  • Vacancies: Subjects with more posts usually need a lower score per seat, though Science shows that this is not guaranteed.

  • Number of candidates: Large applicant pools in English, Hindi and Social Science keep competition high.

  • Minimum qualifying marks: In some subjects these act as the real cut-off when too few candidates reach them.

  • Category and branch: Each reserved category and branch has its own cut-off.

How to Set Your Target Score

  1. Clear the minimum with a margin: Aim well above the minimum qualifying marks, because falling short ends the attempt regardless of vacancies.

  2. Plan for competition in crowded subjects: In English, Hindi and Social Science, plan to score clearly above the average of serious candidates in your mocks.

  3. Track your mock scores: If you consistently score 200 or more out of 300 in full-length prelims mocks with high accuracy, you are building a safe margin.

  4. Treat mains as the decider: The final cut-off is on mains marks, so keep writing practice going alongside MCQs.
