UP Police Constable Cut Off 2026: Category-wise Marks

The UP Police Constable cut off is the minimum normalised score out of 300 that candidates in each category needed in the written test to move to the next stage. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) publishes separate cut-offs by category and for women, and later a final cut-off after the physical tests.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat the figures below as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

Cut-off Trend and What Drives It

The unreserved shortlisting cut-off rose by about 44 marks, from 214.05 in 2024 to 258.04 in 2026. The reserved categories rose even more, by roughly 53 to 73 marks. These factors explain the shift:

  • No negative marking: The 2024 paper deducted 0.5 marks per wrong answer. In 2026 wrong answers cost nothing, so scores rose across the board.

  • Fewer vacancies: About 32,700 posts against more than 60,000 in the previous cycle meant tighter competition.

  • Paper difficulty: An easier paper pushes cut-offs up. Scores are normalised across shifts, so the difficulty of your own shift is adjusted for.

Also note that the final cut-off can be higher than the written cut-off, as it was in 2024, because some shortlisted candidates drop out at PST or PET.

How to Set Your Target Score

Under the current no-negative-marking pattern, a sensible mock target is about 10 marks above the latest cut-off for your category. For an unreserved candidate, that means 268 or more, or roughly 134 correct answers out of 150. Track your score, accuracy and time per section in every full mock, and check where marks are leaking.

Official cut-off notices are on the UPPRPB website.
