Latest Updates on UP Police SI Recruitment

The 2025 recruitment is complete. The written exam was held on 14 and 15 March 2026 in four shifts at 1,090 centres across all 75 districts. Out of 15,75,760 registered candidates, 10,77,403 appeared. The board shortlisted 12,333 candidates for document verification and the physical standards test, and the final result on 14 July 2026 selected candidates against all 4,543 posts. Scorecards with normalised marks followed on 22 July 2026.

No new notification for SI (Civil Police) has been released yet. Aspirants preparing now are effectively preparing for the next cycle, so the 2025 pattern and syllabus remain the best guide until the board publishes a fresh advertisement.

SI (Confidential) is a separate recruitment

You may also see news about an "SI exam" in October to November 2026. That is the recruitment for Sub-Inspector (Confidential) and Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerk and Accounts), notified on 20 December 2025 under a separate advertisement, with 112 SI (Confidential) posts. It is a ministerial post with its own exam pattern and typing or shorthand stages. It is not the SI (Civil Police) exam described on this page, so check which post you applied for before following any schedule.

UP Police SI Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility is checked in detail at document verification, so read the full notification before you apply. For a deeper breakdown.

Educational qualification

Candidates need a bachelor's degree from a university established by law in India, or a qualification recognised as equivalent by the government. Any stream is accepted. The notification also lists preferential qualifications, such as service in the Territorial Army for at least two years, which count only when two candidates are otherwise tied.

Age limit

  • Age band: 21 to 28 years. In the 2025 cycle, age was counted as on 1 July 2025, so candidates had to be born between 2 July 1997 and 1 July 2004.

  • Reserved categories: SC, ST and OBC candidates of Uttar Pradesh get upper age relaxation as per state rules.

  • One-time relaxation: For the 2025 recruitment only, the board allowed an extra 3 years of age relaxation to candidates of all categories. Do not assume it will repeat in the next cycle.

Other conditions

  • Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.

  • Physical standards: Height, chest and weight requirements apply, as explained in the physical tests section below.

  • Character and medical fitness: Selection depends on a clean character verification and medical fitness.

Application Fee and How to Apply

Fee (2025 cycle)

Unreserved, OBC, EWS

Rs. 500

SC, ST

Rs. 400

The fee is paid online and is not refunded. Bank charges are extra. The fee can change with a new notification, so confirm it before paying.

The application follows these steps:

  1. Open the recruitment link on the UPPRPB website and complete the registration with your personal, category and contact details.

  2. Activate the registration through the OTP sent to your mobile number and email.

  3. Log in and fill in your educational qualification and post preferences.

  4. Upload a recent photograph and signature in the size and format given in the notification.

  5. Pay the fee and download the final application form for your records.

Applications are commonly rejected for mismatched names or dates of birth across documents, unclear photographs, or a category claim without a valid certificate. Check every detail against your high school certificate before submitting.

UP Police SI Exam Pattern

The written exam is an objective test of four equal sections. Each correct answer carries 2.5 marks. For the full breakdown.

  • Negative marking: None. A wrong answer and a blank both score zero.

  • Qualifying marks: At least 35 percent in each section (35 out of 100) and 50 percent overall (200 out of 400).

  • Normalisation: When the paper runs in more than one shift, marks are normalised across shifts. Cut-offs are therefore published as decimal scores.

What this means for you

  • Attempt every question: With no penalty, leaving a question blank only costs you a chance at 2.5 marks.

  • No weak section is safe: A score below 35 in any one section disqualifies you, even with a high total.

  • Speed matters: You get 45 seconds per question on average, so Hindi and GK must be fast to leave time for calculations.

  • Qualifying is not selection: The 2025 merit cut-offs were far above 200 marks, as the cut-off section shows.

UP Police SI Selection Process

  1. Written exam: The 400-mark objective paper. Candidates meeting the qualifying marks are ranked, and a fixed multiple of the vacancies is called for the next stage.

  2. Document verification and PST: Certificates are checked and height, chest and weight are measured. This stage is qualifying.

  3. Physical efficiency test: A timed run. It is qualifying only and adds no marks.

  4. Final merit: Prepared from written exam marks among candidates who cleared DV, PST and PET, followed by the medical examination and character verification before appointment.

Because the physical stages add no marks, your written score decides your rank. The physical tests decide only whether that rank turns into a selection.

How to Prepare for UP Police SI

A 2025 unreserved cut-off near 370 out of 400 means you need accuracy above 90 percent across all four sections. That changes how you prepare.

  • Treat Hindi as a scoring section: Grammar topics repeat every year. Daily practice of sandhi, samas, muhavare and vocabulary can push this section close to full marks.

  • Build the law base properly: Read the Constitution's key parts and the basics of the new criminal laws. Older books may still cite IPC and CrPC sections, so cross-check with current material.

  • Keep current affairs and UP GK running: Spend 30 to 40 minutes a day and make monthly notes, with extra focus on Uttar Pradesh schemes, places and personalities.

  • Practise maths and reasoning for speed: Most questions are of Class 10 level. The challenge is solving them quickly and without errors.

  • Train for the run in parallel: Begin with shorter distances and build up to 4.8 km or 2.4 km well before the written result.

Use mock tests the right way

From the third month, take a full-length mock every week, then two or three a week in the final phase. After each test, list the questions you got wrong, the ones that took too long, and the ones you skipped but could have solved. For timed practice in the current pattern,
