UPTET Syllabus 2026: Paper 1 and Paper 2 Topic-wise Guide
The UPTET syllabus covers two papers. Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 5, and Paper 2 is for Classes 6 to 8. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) conducted the 2026 cycle, and both papers test subject knowledge at school level along with the pedagogy of teaching it.
The notification fixes the sections and the number of questions in each. The topic lists below follow the school curriculum the questions are based on and the areas asked in previous papers. Use them as a working checklist, and confirm any change against the next official notification. This page gives section-wise topics for both papers, the overlap between them, and a phased plan to finish the UPTET syllabus.

Key Changes to Know
New conducting body: UPESSC now runs the test, so older syllabus PDFs may carry the previous authority's name. The section structure stayed the same in 2026.
Paper 2 subject choice: Mathematics and Science teachers take the Mathematics and Science section; Social Studies teachers take Social Studies. Other teachers can choose either.
Pedagogy inside every section: Language, Maths, EVS, Science and Social Studies each include questions on how to teach the subject, not only on content.
