ADRE Grade 3 Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Other Conditions
ADRE Grade 3 eligibility depends on three things: the qualification level you apply at, your age on the reference date, and a few Assam-specific conditions such as employment exchange registration. The State Level Recruitment Commission for Class-III Posts, Assam, sets these rules in its advertisement. As of October 2026, the ADRE 3.0 advertisement had not been released, so this page uses the official advertisement of 30 October 2023 (No. SLRC-G-III/91/Advertisement/2023/2) as the reference.
Expect the broad structure to carry over, but treat the age reference date, qualification wording and any new domicile or language clause as unconfirmed until the ADRE 3.0 advertisement is out. The sections below show what applied last time and what to check in the new notice.
Eligibility at a Glance (Last Cycle)
Criterion | Requirement |
|---|---|
Nationality | Indian citizen |

Educational Qualification
Each post was grouped by its minimum qualification, and the written paper was set at that level. Qualifications must be from a recognised board, university or institute.
Level | Qualification variants in the 2023 advertisement | Written paper |
|---|---|---|
Bachelor's degree level (Category I) | Bachelor's degree; bachelor's degree with a computer certificate or diploma of at least 6 months; bachelor's degree with computer and stenography certificates; bachelor's degree in Library Science with a computer certificate | 150 questions, 175 marks |
HSSLC level (Category II) | HSSLC or equivalent; HSSLC (Science) for certain posts | 150 questions, 150 marks |
HSLC level (Category III) | HSLC or equivalent with a valid LMV driving licence (Driver posts) | 150 questions, 150 marks |
Computer certificate: the course must be at least six months long and from a recognised institute. Keep the certificate ready for verification.
Driving licence: Driver candidates must hold a valid LMV licence, and a driving skill test follows the written exam.
Result deadline: check the ADRE 3.0 advertisement for the date by which your qualifying result must be declared.
Age Limit and Relaxation
In the last cycle, candidates had to be at least 18 and not more than 40 years old as on 1 January 2023. Age was counted only from the HSLC (Matriculation) admit card or pass certificate, so make sure your date of birth matches that document. The ADRE 3.0 advertisement will fix a new reference date.
Category | Upper age relaxation | Maximum age |
|---|---|---|
General / Unreserved | None | 40 years |
OBC / MOBC | 3 years | 43 years |
SC / ST(P) / ST(H) | 5 years | 45 years |
Ex-Servicemen | 2 years | 42 years |
PwBD | 10 years | 50 years |
Relaxations follow Government of Assam rules. Combined relaxation for a candidate in more than one category is governed by those rules, so read the advertisement for how they stack.
Assam-specific and Other Conditions
Employment exchange registration: a valid registration number with an employment exchange in Assam was mandatory to apply in the last cycle. Register or renew early, since the number is entered on the form.
Domicile: the 2023 advertisement did not list a separate permanent resident certificate requirement, though some guides say one is needed. The employment exchange rule already ties applicants to Assam. Check the ADRE 3.0 advertisement for any explicit domicile clause.
Assamese or local language: the 2023 advertisement did not set a language test as an eligibility condition. Assam's general recruitment rules may require knowledge of the state's official language for some posts, so look for this clause in the new advertisement.
Small family norm: a Form A declaration under the Assam Public Services (Application of Small Family Norms in Direct Recruitment) Rules, 2019 was required at verification.
Serving government employees: must produce a No Objection Certificate from their head of department at the skill test or document verification.
Who Is Not Eligible
Over-age candidates: anyone above the upper age limit after relaxation on the reference date.
Missing qualification: for example, a graduate post that needs a six-month computer course when you do not hold one.
No employment exchange number: applications without a valid Assam registration were not accepted last time.
False declarations: the Commission can cancel candidature at any stage if information is found to be false, and canvassing leads to disqualification.
Documents to Keep Ready
Age proof: HSLC admit card or pass certificate.
Qualification proof: marksheets, degree, computer, stenography or library science certificates, driving licence.
Category proof: caste certificate or PwBD certificate where applicable.
Other: employment exchange card, Form A declaration, NOC for serving employees, passport-size photograph and signature for upload.
Official notices are on the Government of Assam portal.
