Assam Police SI Eligibility: Age, Education and Physical
Assam Police SI eligibility depends on five things: residence in Assam, a graduate degree, age, physical standards and medical fitness. The rules below come from the advertisement issued by the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam, on 12 December 2025 for Sub Inspector (UB) and related posts. Age is counted on the reference date set in each advertisement; in the latest advertisement it was 1 January 2026.
This page sets out every condition for Sub Inspector (UB), the age relaxation for reserved categories, the height and chest standards and the medical rules that most often lead to rejection. A short table at the end compares the related posts in the same advertisement.

Sub Inspector (UB) needs a graduate degree in Arts, Science, Commerce or an equivalent stream from an institution affiliated to a recognised university. No minimum percentage is stated. Certificates must have been issued on or before the last date of application (16 January 2026 in the latest advertisement), because documents issued later are not accepted at the PET/PST stage.
Age Limit and Relaxation

OBC/MOBC | 3 years | 29 years |
SC, ST (P), ST (H) | 5 years | 31 years |

Physical Standards

Height is measured with attention to posture. A candidate who fails height or chest can ask for re-measurement on the same day. These standards are checked at the PST, which carries no marks but must be cleared. The PET events and scoring are explained on the Assam Police SI exam pattern page.
Medical Standards
Eyesight: Distance vision of 6/6 in one eye and no worse than 6/9 in the other without correction, with normal near vision.
Colour vision and squint: Candidates must not be colour blind or squint-eyed.
General fitness: No deformity or condition that could affect duty, such as diabetes, heart disease, hernia, piles, respiratory disease, knock-knee or flat foot.
Varicose veins: Treated as a temporary disqualification.
The medical examination is held before the PST. If you have any doubt about eyesight or a condition on this list, get it checked before you invest months in preparation.
