Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board

Conducts recruitment for various teaching and non-teaching posts under the Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

DSSSB Study Material

The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) recruits staff for Group B and Group C posts in departments of the Government of NCT of Delhi and in local bodies such as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). For teaching aspirants, the DSSSB exam is the main route to a permanent government school job in Delhi as a Primary Teacher (PRT, advertised as Assistant Teacher (Primary)), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) or Post Graduate Teacher (PGT).

This page focuses on those three teaching cadres. It summarises the latest advertisements (05/2025 for PRT, 06/2025 for TGT, 10/2024 for PGT and 03/2026 for newer teaching posts), the one-tier exam that DSSSB now uses for teachers, eligibility, pay and how to prepare. DSSSB also recruits for many non-teaching posts, such as Patwari, Assistant Section Officer, Junior Scientific Assistant, Stenographer and Junior Engineer. Those follow their own post-wise schemes and are not covered in detail here.

DSSSB eligibility for teachers

Educational qualification

  • PRT (Assistant Teacher, Primary): Senior Secondary with the required percentage plus a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a four-year B.El.Ed., or other routes listed in the advertisement, plus a pass in CTET. DoE posts also need Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi or English as a subject at Secondary level.

  • TGT: Graduation in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks (or a qualifying master's or four-year integrated degree), plus B.Ed. where required, plus a pass in CTET for TGT subject posts.

  • PGT: Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, plus B.Ed. (or B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed. or integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.).

The fee is paid online through SBI e-Pay only and is not refundable.

  1. Register on OARS: Create a one-time registration on dsssbonline.nic.in with a working mobile number and email.

  2. Pick the post code: Select the advertisement and the exact post code, for example TGT English (Female) or PRT 802/25.

  3. Fill and upload: Enter qualification details as on the crucial date and upload your photograph and signature as specified in the advertisement.

  4. Pay and submit: Pay the fee if applicable, submit before the closing time and save the final form.

Common reasons for rejection are applying without holding the qualification on the crucial date, a CTET pass that is missing for posts that need it, and wrong category or date-of-birth entries that do not match certificates at the e-dossier stage.

DSSSB exam pattern for PRT, TGT and PGT

DSSSB's examination scheme groups posts into one-tier, two-tier and three-tier formats. Teaching posts in the current advertisements are all examined under the One Tier (Technical/Teaching) scheme: a single objective paper decides merit.

Section II: PG subject and teaching methodology

Each wrong answer costs 0.25 mark. Minimum qualifying marks apply to the subject section (Section B, or Section II for PGT): 40% for General and EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi) and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD. Section A has no separate minimum, but its marks count in the merit list.

What this means for you:

  • The subject section decides selection: It is both the qualifying hurdle and half or more of the total marks.

  • Section A is still worth 100 marks: A strong general section often separates candidates with similar subject scores.

  • Guessing has a cost: Four wrong answers cancel one correct answer.

Older pages may still describe a two-tier PGT exam with a descriptive English paper, based on the 2013 scheme. The latest PGT advertisement uses a one-tier, 300-mark paper, so follow the official advertisement.

Section B (TGT) and Section II (PGT)

Graduation or post-graduation level subject content plus teaching methodology

DSSSB names these sections in each advertisement but does not always publish a detailed topic list for every post. Use the DSSSB syllabus page for a working topic checklist by post.

Selection process

  1. One-tier CBT: The full merit list is drawn from total marks in Sections A and B (or I and II for PGT), subject to the minimum in the subject section.

  2. E-dossier shortlisting: DSSSB releases marks and calls a set of candidates, usually more than the vacancies, to upload documents and department preferences online.

  3. Document verification and result: The user department scrutinises documents, and DSSSB publishes the final result. Ties are broken first by Section B marks and then by age, as stated in the advertisement.

There is no interview for these teaching posts.

Salary and career growth

Level 7

PGT

Level 8

Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100

These are the official pay scales printed in the advertisements. Gross and in-hand pay depend on allowances such as DA and HRA, which change over time, so any in-hand figure you see elsewhere is an estimate. All three posts are Group B. Promotion from PRT to TGT and from TGT to PGT happens under the department's recruitment rules, alongside direct recruitment.

How to prepare for the DSSSB teaching exam

  • Start with Section B: Build your subject and pedagogy base first, because it carries the qualifying rule.

  • Run Section A in parallel: Give 60 to 90 minutes a day to reasoning, numerical ability and the two languages, and keep monthly current affairs notes.

  • Use previous papers early: They show the real depth of subject questions for your post code.

  • Move to full mocks: In the last six to eight weeks, take full-length timed tests and review every wrong and skipped question.
