DSSSB Cut-Off: Previous Year Marks for PRT, TGT and PGT

The DSSSB cut-off is set separately for every post code and category. There is no single TGT or PGT cut-off: TGT Hindi (Female) and TGT Mathematics (Male) are different post codes with different vacancies and applicants, so their cut-offs differ. For teaching posts there are two layers to understand: the minimum qualifying marks in the subject section, and the marks of the last candidate shortlisted for e-dossier, which act as the real cut-off.

The figures below come from DSSSB's own result and shortlisting notices. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat past figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

Minimum qualifying marks

Every teaching advertisement sets a minimum in the subject section (Section B, or Section II for PGT). You must clear it to be considered at all.

PGT, Advertisement 10/2024

DSSSB released PGT marks and e-dossier shortlists subject by subject between 2025 and 2026, with cut-offs shown out of 300 and, where exams ran in shifts, prorated. The figures in these notices are post-wise and split by gender, and many subjects had very few vacancies. For example, PGT Physics had only 5 vacancies, against which 797 candidates appeared. Check the notice for your own subject on the DSSSB results page instead of relying on figures for another subject.

DSSSB cut-off trend

  • Female posts often run higher: In the 2021 Natural Science figures, the female UR cut-off was about 15 marks above the male one, with roughly twice as many candidates appearing.

  • Category order is not fixed: In the male Natural Science post, the OBC cut-off was lower than SC. Small or uneven category vacancies can produce results like this.

  • PGT cut-offs are on a 300-mark scale: Do not compare a PGT score directly with a TGT or PRT score out of 200.

What affects the DSSSB cut-off

  • Vacancies in the post code: A post with 800 vacancies usually closes lower than one with 5.

  • Number of applicants: Popular subjects such as Hindi, English and Natural Science draw large fields.

  • Paper difficulty and shifts: When a post is examined in several shifts, scores may be normalised or prorated, as some notices state.

  • Category-wise vacancies: Some post codes have zero vacancies in a category, so no cut-off is published for it.

How to set your target score

  1. Clear the subject minimum with room to spare: Aim for at least 60 out of 100 in Section B (TGT and PRT) or 120 out of 200 in Section II (PGT) so the qualifying rule never decides your fate.

  2. Use your post's last notice: Find the most recent shortlisting notice for your exact post code and category, and add 10 to 15 marks as a safety margin.

  3. Track mock scores against it: When your full-length mock scores sit above that target for several weeks in a row, you are in a competitive range.

Official result and shortlisting notices are published on the official DSSSB website.
