Kolhan University BA Semester 1 Pass Marks 2026

For the Kolhan University BA Semester 1 exam, "cut-off" means the pass marks you need in each paper. A semester exam is not a competition with a fixed number of seats. Every student who reaches the minimum marks in a paper passes it, whatever other students score.

This page lists the pass marks for each Semester 1 paper as given in the university's FYUGP syllabus files, explains how results are shown and suggests a safe target score. Kolhan University does not publish a marks-based cut-off for the semester exam, and this page does not invent one.

All pass marks work out to 40% of full marks. The MJ, AC, MDC, SEC, AEC and VAC figures come from the Economics, Political Science and Home Science FYUGP files of Kolhan University. IKS-1 was added for Session 2025-29, so its pass mark is shown as likely, not confirmed.

How much do you need in the end-semester paper?

Because internal and end-semester marks are added, your internal score changes what you need in the hall. Here is a simple example for a 100-mark Major or AC paper without practical work.

This assumes the university applies only the combined 40-mark rule written in the syllabus files. If your department adds a separate minimum for the end-semester part, follow that rule.

How Results Are Shown

Kolhan University publishes FYUGP results as college-wise lists of roll numbers under two headings.

  • Pass: You cleared every paper of the semester.

  • Promoted: You move to the next semester, but at least one paper is pending. You clear it as an ex-regular candidate in a later exam of the same semester.

Your marksheet shows your paper-wise result. NEP programmes generally report grades and SGPA as well, but the exact grade table used by Kolhan University is not on its public website, so read the back of your marksheet or ask your college. As per the university's recent practice, check the latest notice for any change.

How SGPA Is Usually Worked Out

Under NEP-based programmes, SGPA is a credit-weighted average: multiply each paper's grade point by its credits, add them up and divide by total credits. In Semester 1 the credits are 4 (MJ-1), 4 (AC-1), 3 (MDC-1), 3 (SEC-1) and 2 each for VAC-1, AEC-1 and IKS-1, a total of 20. This means a strong Major and AC lift your SGPA more than the 2-credit papers. Treat this as the general method; the grade points used come from the university's own rules.

What Affects Your Pass Result

  • Internal marks: Up to 25 marks in each Major and AC paper come from your college. Missing the internal exam means you need 40 out of 75 in the end-semester paper alone.

  • Attendance score: Attendance above 75% earns the full 5 attendance marks.

  • Admit card errors: A wrong subject record can keep your result pending even if you wrote well.

  • Unfair means: The exam programme says zero marks are given in cases of walkout or mass copying.

Set a Safe Target

Do not aim for 40. Aim for 55 to 60 in the Major and AC papers, 40 to 45 in the 75-mark papers and 30 in the 50-mark papers. That margin protects you if one long answer goes badly. Practise with timed papers until you can finish four long answers in about two hours; Testkart's 2025 Semester 1 previous papers in Hindi are useful for this. Testkart's papers show the Group A and Group B format, so you can measure your speed against the real paper.

About admission merit lists: undergraduate admission runs through the Jharkhand Chancellor Portal and colleges, and this page does not quote any merit marks. Check the Kolhan University examination portal for your result.
