Kolhan University BA Semester 1 Eligibility 2026

Kolhan University BA Semester 1 eligibility is different from the eligibility for a recruitment exam. There is no age limit and no entrance score for the semester exam. You become eligible by being a properly admitted FYUGP student of a college under Kolhan University, Chaibasa, by choosing your subjects within the rules and by filling the online exam form on time.

This page explains every condition in simple steps: admission, APAAR ID, subject rules for the Associated Core (AC) and Multi-Disciplinary Course (MDC), the internal exam, attendance, ex-regular candidates and the exam form. It is based on the university's FYUGP admission form for 2026-30, the Semester 1 exam form notice of 17 January 2026 and later exam notices. Where a rule is not written in an official document, the page says so.

Admission: The First Condition

Only students admitted for the session can fill the Semester 1 exam form as regular candidates. For Session 2026-30 the admission form asks for your Chancellor Portal form number and application number, so admission starts on the Jharkhand Chancellor Portal and is completed at your college.

Documents submitted at admission

  • Portal records: Application form and fee receipt generated from the Chancellor Portal.

  • Leaving certificate: Original Transfer Certificate, School Leaving Certificate or College Leaving Certificate.

  • Marksheets: Photocopies of the Class 12 admit card and marksheet and the Class 10 marksheet.

  • Category proof: Caste certificate for SC, ST, BC-I or BC-II students, and EWS, PwD, NCC or NSS certificates if they apply.

  • APAAR ID: The form states that an application without an APAAR ID will not be accepted.

If any document is pending, finish it in the first weeks so that your exam form is not held up at the college.

Subject Rules You Must Follow

Your exam form must show a valid combination of papers. A wrong combination can lead to a wrong admit card or a pending result.

Major (MJ-1)

Your Major is the subject you chose at admission. In BA it can be a subject such as Economics, Political Science, History, Hindi, English, Geography, Psychology, Sociology or Home Science, depending on what your college teaches.

Associated Core (AC-1)

  • Different from the Major: AC cannot be the same subject as your Major.

  • Taught in your college: The exam form notice asks you to choose an AC subject that your college is affiliated to teach. The exam programme adds that this avoids problems in the internal and practical exams.

  • From the approved list: The NEP Cell's list of AC subjects (2025 onward) pairs each Major with allowed AC subjects. For example, a Political Science Major can take Economics, English, Philosophy, Geography, History, Sociology or Hindi, among others.

Multi-Disciplinary Course (MDC-1)

  • New subject: The MDC subject must not appear on your Class 12 marksheet.

  • Not a repeat: MDC-1 must differ from your Major and your AC.

  • Commerce note: Arts and Science students who pick Commerce as MDC-1 write the Fundamentals of Commerce paper.

Common courses

Every regular student of Session 2025-29 writes Digital Education (SEC-1), Understanding India (VAC-1), Hindi Composition (AEC-1) and the Foundation Course in Indian Knowledge System (IKS-1). You do not choose these papers.

Internal Exam and Attendance

Your Major and AC papers include 25 internal marks, and in practical subjects 25 practical marks too. These exams are held in your college, and the August 2026 notice was strict on one point: a student who is absent from the internal, practical, project or viva exam will not get another chance.

Attendance also turns into marks. The syllabus files give 5 marks for attendance above 75% and 1 mark for attendance up to 45%, with steps in between.

The Semester 1 documents we checked do not state a minimum attendance below which you cannot sit the exam. Colleges may apply their own attendance rule when forwarding forms. As per the university's recent practice, check the latest notice and your college's rule early in the semester.

Ex-Regular Candidates

An ex-regular candidate is a student of an older session who has to clear one or more Semester 1 papers. The 2025 exam form notice allowed ex-regular students of Sessions 2022-26, 2023-27 and 2024-28 to fill the form along with the regular 2025-29 batch.

  • Same subject record: Their exam form data followed their earlier first-semester record.

  • Old paper names: Their list used Minor (MN-1A) instead of AC, and VAC-1 included Understanding India plus either Environmental Studies or Yoga.

  • Separate programme: The exam programme for ex-regular students was to be issued separately.

Results show "Promoted" students who move ahead with a pending paper. Such students clear the paper as ex-regular candidates in a later Semester 1 exam.

Exam Form, Fee and Deadlines

For the 2025 exam, the online form window ran from 20 January 2026 to 31 January 2026, with a Rs. 200 late fee from 1 February 2026 to 5 February 2026. The university later extended these dates. For Session 2026-30, the academic calendar plans the exam form for the third week of November 2026 (tentative).

Who May Face Problems

  • Missed form window: Without a submitted form and fee, you cannot get an admit card.

  • No APAAR ID: The form notice asked every student to create an ABC/APAAR ID before filling the form.

  • Wrong subject combination: An MDC from your Class 12 subjects, or an AC the same as your Major, will be flagged.

  • Absent in internal exam: You lose those marks, and no second internal exam is held.

  • Incomplete admission papers: Pending certificates can hold up your form at the college level.

Admit Card and Corrections

Admit cards are usually distributed through your college. Check your name, roll number and the subjects under MJ, AC and MDC. If a subject is wrong, contact the university examination department through your college before the exam starts.

After the 2025 exam, students who had written the exam with a manually corrected subject were given until 13 August 2026 to correct their admit card record. The application had to be addressed to the Controller of Examinations and forwarded by the Principal, with copies of the admit card, the Class 12 marksheet and a verified attendance sheet from the exam centre. After that date a Rs. 200 fee applies, and the notice warned that a pending result in such cases is the student's responsibility.

Moving On to Semester 2

Semester 1 results are published as "Pass" and "Promoted" lists. A promoted student joins Semester 2 even with a pending paper, so one bad paper does not stop your course. The pending paper stays on your record until you clear it.

Backlogs matter later. For the 2022-26 batch, the Dean of Academic Affairs notice of 4 July 2026 said a student needs at least 26 of 35 papers from Semesters 1 to 6 to be promoted to Semester 7 for an Honours degree. A student also has to clear all backlogs before receiving a Bachelor's degree. Rules for your batch may be updated, but the lesson is the same: clear Semester 1 papers early.

Checklist Before You Fill the Exam Form

  1. APAAR ID ready: Create it first, and keep the number with you.

  2. Subjects confirmed: Match your Major, AC and MDC with your admission record and the approved AC list.

  3. Fee amount known: Check whether your subjects make you a practical or non-practical candidate.

  4. Mobile number active: Colleges share exam updates on notice boards and WhatsApp groups, so use a number you check daily.

  5. Printout saved: Keep the submitted form and fee receipt until your result is out.

Always follow the latest notice on the Kolhan University notices page and the examination portal.
