LIC Assistant Cut Off: Previous Year Division-wise Marks

The LIC Assistant cut-off is the minimum score needed to move from the Prelims to the Mains, and then to be selected in the final division-wise merit list. Because the Life Insurance Corporation of India recruits Assistants division by division, there is no single national cut-off. Each division has its own figure, set by its vacancies and the number of candidates competing for them.

No new Assistant recruitment has been notified as of 30 October 2026, so the latest available figures are from the 2019 cycle. The tables below are division-wise minimum marks reported by third-party compilations; LIC did not publish a consolidated category-wise cut-off list on its current website. Treat them as a benchmark only.

LIC Assistant Mains Cut-off 2019

These are the reported minimum Mains scores (out of 200) for selection in each division. The compilations do not give a category-wise break-up, so read them as the general-merit benchmark for the division.

Most reported Mains cut-offs fell between about 120 and 140 out of 200, with Delhi at the top and Begusarai well below the rest. Figures for divisions not listed here were not available in a reliable form.

The spread matters more than any single number. Remember too that the 2019 Mains used two different zone patterns, so scores from zones with and without the Hindi test are not directly comparable.

LIC Assistant Prelims Cut-off 2019

Prelims cut-offs were reported for fewer divisions. They are out of 100, though only the Reasoning and Numerical Ability sections were used for shortlisting.

What Affects the LIC Assistant Cut-off

  • Division vacancies: A division with many vacancies relative to applicants usually has a lower cut-off.

  • Number of applicants: Popular urban divisions attract more candidates, which pushes the cut-off up.

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher shift or section lowers scores across the board.

  • Category: Reserved categories have separate, generally lower cut-offs within each division.

  • Pattern changes: If the next notification changes sections or marks, the 2019 figures become a rougher guide.

How to Set Your Target Score

Cut-offs change with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat the 2019 figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. A practical approach:

  1. Find your division's figure: Use it as the floor, not the goal.

  2. Add a safety margin: Aim for about 10 to 15 marks above the 2019 Mains figure for your division.

  3. Protect every section: A high total does not help if you miss the minimum in one Mains test; see the LIC Assistant exam pattern for how sections are scored.

  4. Track it in mocks: Note your section-wise scores in each full-length test and compare them with your target.
