MP Police ASI Syllabus 2026: Topic-Wise Guide
The MP Police ASI syllabus for the ASI (Ministerial) post has two parts: a 100-mark online written test and a practical typing test. The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) names the written sections and their marks, and the typing test is skill-based, so there is no textbook-style syllabus for it.
A detailed topic-wise syllabus is not published in the notification summaries we could verify. The topic lists below are built from the official section names, the standard level of this type of paper and the questions usually asked in state police recruitment tests. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list, and confirm the section names on the official MPESB website.

Key points to know
Hindi medium: The written test is reported to be in Hindi, so learn technical terms in Hindi too.
No negative marking: Every question is worth attempting, which changes how you handle hard topics.
Not the Sub-Inspector syllabus: Pages that show descriptive General Studies papers or negative marking belong to a different police recruitment. Follow the official notification for this post.
General Knowledge and Reasoning (40 marks)
This is the largest section, so it decides more of your score than any other. It mixes static knowledge, current affairs and basic reasoning.
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Madhya Pradesh GK | Districts, rivers, national parks, festivals, art and culture, major schemes, important personalities | Geography and culture of the state |
India GK | History highlights, geography, Indian polity basics, economy basics, awards, books, sports | Polity and geography |
Current affairs | National and state events, appointments, government schemes, science and technology news | Last six to twelve months |
Police and law basics | Basic awareness of the justice system and public safety institutions | General awareness only |
Madhya Pradesh GK repeats across state recruitment papers, so build a compact state fact file early and revise it weekly.
Intellectual Ability and Mental Aptitude (30 marks)
These questions test how quickly you spot patterns. The topics below are the usual ones for this section name.
Series and sequences: Number, letter and mixed series.
Analogy and classification: Word, number and letter relationships, odd-one-out.
Coding-decoding and direction sense: Letter and number codes, distance and direction questions.
Blood relations, ranking and arrangement: Family trees, order and seating puzzles.
Logical reasoning: Statements and conclusions, syllogisms, Venn diagrams.
Non-verbal reasoning: Figure series, mirror and water images, counting figures.
Science and Simple Arithmetic (30 marks)
Science
Expect everyday science up to about Class 10 level. Cover physics (motion, force, light, sound, electricity), chemistry (acids and bases, metals and non-metals, common compounds) and biology (human body, nutrition, diseases, plants and environment).
Simple arithmetic
Topic | What to practise |
|---|---|
Number system and averages | HCF and LCM, divisibility, averages |
Percentage, profit and loss | Discount, successive changes, percentage-based comparisons |
Ratio and proportion | Mixture, partnership, sharing |
Interest | Simple and compound interest |
Time, work and distance | Work and wages, speed, trains, boats |
Mensuration and data | Area and volume basics, tables and graphs |
The word "simple" suggests basic questions, so speed and accuracy on standard problems matter more than advanced tricks.
Typing test: what is tested
Candidates who clear the written stage take a practical test on a computer. For ASI (Ministerial), this means typing two Hindi paragraphs of about 600 words each, with 30 minutes for each paragraph. The test carries 100 marks, and at least 30 marks are needed to qualify. Marks are reduced for extra, missing or wrongly spaced characters, and only typed matter is evaluated.
The ASI post does not require shorthand. Shorthand dictation applies to the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post. Your preparation should cover Hindi typing in the keyboard layout you used for your CPCT, plus accuracy and spacing.
How the sections overlap
Area | Written test | Typing test | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
Hindi language skill | Questions are in Hindi | Passages are in Hindi | Read Hindi daily; it helps both |
Accuracy | No negative marking, but wrong answers lose chances | Errors reduce marks | Practise accurate speed, not raw speed |
Time pressure | 100 questions in 2 hours | 30 minutes per passage | Use timers in every practice session |
How to cover the syllabus
