MP Police Constable notification 2026 overview

MPESB released the rulebook for the 2026 cycle on 9 September 2026. It follows the 2023 cycle and the 2025 cycle of 7,500 posts, whose final result was reported in April 2026.

  • Written test structure: 100 objective questions across three subjects, worth 40, 30 and 30 marks, with no negative marking.

  • Two cadres: SAF posts are for male candidates only. Posts other than SAF are open to men and women, with 35% horizontal reservation for women.

  • Percentile-based shortlisting: The rulebook sets no fixed pass mark for the written test. Candidates are called for the physical stage at about seven times the vacancies in each category, based on a cut-off percentile.

  • Live employment registration: Candidates must hold a live registration with a Madhya Pradesh employment office.

The application window for 2026 has closed. For the next cycle, the process usually runs as follows:

  1. Complete profile registration: Register on the MPESB portal with your identity and contact details.

  2. Fill the online form: Choose the post and enter category, domicile, qualification and employment registration details.

  3. Set cadre and unit preference: Mark your preference of cadre and district or unit carefully, because it is used at allocation.

  4. Upload photo and signature: Use a recent photograph as instructed in the rulebook.

  5. Pay the fee and save the form: Pay online and download the confirmation page.

Common reasons for trouble later are a wrong category or domicile claim, a mismatch between the photo and the candidate, and an expired employment registration. Use the correction window to fix errors instead of waiting for document verification.

Each correct answer carries one mark, and there is no negative marking. The rulebook describes the questions as Hindi-language multiple-choice questions; check your admit card for the language options in your shift.

Phase 2: physical tests

Shortlisted candidates face physical measurement (height and chest) and a 100-mark Physical Efficiency Test with an 800 metre run, long jump and shot put. A minimum of 30% in the PET is needed to be considered for merit.

What this means for you

  • Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank answer can only cost you a mark.

  • Reasoning carries real weight: Logical reasoning sits in the 40-mark section and mental aptitude adds 30 more, so reasoning practice pays across both.

  • The PET counts in merit: Physical marks are added to written marks, so running and jumping practice is part of scoring, not just qualifying.

Older pages may still show different subject names or a written test of different length, so follow the current rulebook. See the full MP Police Constable exam pattern for the PET and merit details.

How to prepare for MP Police Constable

Written test

  • Weeks 1 to 4: Build basics in arithmetic and reasoning, and start a daily 30-minute Madhya Pradesh GK and current affairs habit.

  • Weeks 5 to 8: Cover science through NCERT-level chapters and add topic-wise tests in every subject.

  • Final weeks: Take full-length 100-question mocks in two hours, analyse the same day and revise from an error log.

Physical preparation

Start running practice early, because the 800 metre run and jumps need weeks of conditioning. Practise on a measured track and record your times so you know where you stand before the PET call.

Mock tests

For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt MP Police Constable mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to see which subject is costing you marks. Pair them with previous year papers to understand the real difficulty level, and keep short MP Police Constable study notes for quick revision of GK and science.
