MP Police Constable Syllabus 2026: Subject-wise Topics
The MP Police Constable syllabus covers the written test conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) for Constable (General Duty) posts. The 2026 rulebook names three subjects for the 100-mark computer-based test: General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning, Intellectual Ability and Mental Aptitude, and Science and Simple Arithmetic.
MPESB names the subjects and their marks but does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The topic lists below are built from the official subject heads and from questions asked in previous years. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list. The page also shows where to start in each subject and how to plan the syllabus alongside physical training.

Key changes to know
Three subject heads: The current rulebook uses three subject heads worth 40, 30 and 30 marks. Some preparation pages split the paper into more sections, which can make the weightage look different.
Reasoning appears twice: Logical reasoning sits inside the 40-mark GK section, while the 30-mark section covers intellectual ability and mental aptitude.
Science and arithmetic share one section: Together they carry 30 marks, so plan both rather than skipping one.
Older pages may still show a different paper structure, so follow the official rulebook on the MPESB rulebook page.
General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning (40 marks)
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Madhya Pradesh GK | History, geography, rivers, national parks, tribes, culture, districts, state schemes | MP geography and major schemes |
Indian history | Ancient, medieval and modern India, freedom movement | Freedom movement |
Geography | Physical features of India, climate, soils, resources | India physical geography |
Polity and governance | Constitution basics, fundamental rights and duties, Parliament, state government | Fundamental rights |
Current affairs | State, national and international news, sports, awards, appointments | Last 6 to 8 months of news |
Logical reasoning | Coding-decoding, series, blood relations, direction, syllogism, ranking | Series and coding-decoding |
Madhya Pradesh GK and current affairs usually decide scores in this section, because they are harder to guess than reasoning. Keep a running note of state schemes, appointments and events from the last year.
Intellectual Ability and Mental Aptitude (30 marks)
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Verbal reasoning | Analogy, classification, odd one out, word arrangement | Analogy and classification |
Non-verbal reasoning | Figure series, mirror and water images, paper folding, embedded figures | Mirror images |
Analytical ability | Puzzles, seating arrangement, venn diagrams, statement and conclusion | Venn diagrams |
Mental aptitude | Decision making, situational judgement, observation and memory-type questions | Situational questions |
This section rewards speed. Most questions can be solved in under a minute once you know the pattern types, so short timed drills work better than long reading.
Science and Simple Arithmetic (30 marks)
General science
Physics: Motion, force, work and energy, light, sound, electricity and everyday applications.
Chemistry: Matter, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, common chemicals in daily life.
Biology: Human body systems, nutrition, diseases and vitamins, plants and environment.
Simple arithmetic
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Number system | Simplification, LCM and HCF, fractions and decimals | Simplification |
Commercial maths | Percentage, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, discount | Percentage |
Ratio-based | Ratio and proportion, average, ages, partnership | Ratio and average |
Time-based | Time and work, time, speed and distance | Speed and distance |
Mensuration | Area and perimeter of basic figures, volume | Area of basic figures |
The arithmetic is at school level. Percentage, ratio and average feed into most other chapters, so learn them first.
Overlap between subjects
Area | GK and Reasoning section | Mental Aptitude section | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
Reasoning | Logical reasoning: series, coding, blood relations | Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, puzzles | Study reasoning once as one block and practise both question types |
Numbers | Number series | Number-based puzzles | Arithmetic practice also speeds up series questions |
Science | Science-related current affairs | Not covered | Link science news to NCERT chapters |
Is there a syllabus for the PET?
No. The second phase is a physical test, not a written one. It covers physical measurement (height and chest) and a 100-mark Physical Efficiency Test with an 800 metre run, long jump and shot put. There is no topic list to study, but the PET marks are added to your written marks in merit, so training should start alongside the syllabus.
