MP Vyapam Group 4 Cut Off: Qualifying Marks and Target Score

The MP Vyapam Group 4 cut-off is the lowest score at which candidates of a category were selected for a post in the Group 4 combined recruitment conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB). For the latest cycle, held from 7 May 2025 for 966 posts, MPESB released the result along with a category-wise cut-off document in late November 2025.

This page explains how the Group 4 cut-off works, how it differs from qualifying marks and how to set a safe score target. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so treat any past figure as a benchmark only.

Minimum qualifying marks

The lowest percentage you need to be considered at all. Recent MPESB rule books have commonly set 50 percent for unreserved and 40 percent for reserved candidates of Madhya Pradesh.

The normalised score of the last candidate selected in a post and category

Decided by the result, vacancies and competition

Clearing the qualifying marks does not mean selection. Because the paper has no negative marking, most cut-offs end up well above the qualifying floor. Confirm the qualifying percentage in the rule book of your cycle, as older Group 4 cycles used different thresholds.

MPESB publishes the official cut-off as a PDF in the result section of esb.mp.gov.in. It shows the closing marks for each post and reservation category (UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST), based on normalised scores.

Download the PDF for your post code rather than relying on a single figure quoted online. Cut-offs for Assistant Grade-3, Steno Typist and Stenographer are not the same, because each post has its own vacancies and applicant pool. Figures circulated before the result were only estimates, not official numbers.

What Affects the Group 4 Cut-off

  • Vacancies: More seats in a post and category usually bring the cut-off down.

  • Number of applicants: Clerical posts attract very large numbers, which pushes scores up.

  • Paper difficulty and normalisation: Scores across shifts are normalised, so a tough shift does not automatically mean a low cut-off for you.

  • No negative marking: Nearly everyone attempts all 100 questions, which raises scores across the board.

  • CPCT and document rejections: Candidates rejected at document verification open seats for those next in the waiting list.

How to Set Your Target Score

Look at the official cut-off for your post and category, then aim for a clear margin of five to eight marks above it rather than a bare pass. As a working benchmark, consistently scoring 80 or more out of 100 in full-length mocks puts unreserved candidates in a strong position. This is not an official figure and depends on the cycle.
